@TheListener: my point was that it was being taken out of the library. That is not a nothing burger. Go read some real literature, if you still can, Ray Bradbury, George Orwell and Steven Hassan’s books.

If you can’t read because school didn’t teach you anything about reading, try watching Citizen Kane, The Death of Stalin or Schindler’s List, the old 1984 movie or Animal Farm if you rather have an animated film.

The left tards are banning To kill a Mockingbird, Huck Finn, and many others. This is only the beginning as far as the radical left wing nuts are concerned. Disney has canceled several movies like Song of the South, I can get those on a down load hard copy to a HD. So no cares there. Funny how Amazon, Ebay and others sell or allow to be sold Meinkampf but selectively cancel others. I don't want to see any books including Meinkampf canceled or banned. Even books I hate. Freedom is not just for what I like or approve of. The youth today are dumb as dog shit at least a lot of them are. They are lead by the nose by the racial idiots who want to destroy this country.

It’s Seuss’ estate that has ceased publication of the 6 titles rather than just some third party publisher (or government). It’s not clear why they couldn’t just reissue the titles with updated illustrations to replace the ‘offensive’ ones though. But they own the rights, so they can do whatever they like with them for any reason or for no reason. I haven’t read these particular masterpieces but am familiar with other famous Seuss titles, and I’m not sure that these books qualify as the greatest literature of all time.

The concern, right or wrong, is evidently about how people are portrayed specifically to children. The ‘loony left’ hasn’t ‘banned’ Mein Kampf because it isn’t used in school curricula. Titles such as Huckleberry Finn have been removed from student reading lists in various places rather than categorically banned from publication. Books such as the Harry Potter series have been banned in various religious ‘right wing’ schools in the US too so ‘banning’ books for children is not exclusive to the left.

Recent blacklisting of movies and TV shows (particularly where the target audience are adults) is nonsensical to me, whether it’s for their content or because an actor in the program said something stupid on ‘Twitter’ (maybe ban that cesspit instead). JarJar Binks should definitely be banned though. Nothing to do with racism, he’s just really really annoying (and probably a Sith).

@Jeffro: you can’t ban Huckleberry Finn or Mein Kampf because the copyright has expired anyone can publish those books. They are definitely and should be used in schools. I know of no right wing schools that ban books, not all religions are right wing, the values of freedom and individual rights core to the conservative political spectrum do not align with many extremists. Centralized control and social conformity such as seen among JWs and Islam are more of a left wing notion. The only reason many Christians tend to vote right is because of singular issues such as abortion and the division of church and state.

The notion of copyright is that they would be used to make a profit for the author before going into public domain as all books were seen as important. If you use extended copyright, well after the author has disappeared, to block the dissemination of information against the authors will and effectively “burn” the book, your copyright should expire.
