Thanks, Achille, for the explanations. The insight about the RC Church is appreciated and makes sense. Whether the GB's ploy will work or not in Italy remains to be seen, eh?

In the Parliamentary Question it is written that "with a press release the religious confession announced that it was ignorant of the matter and that it had expelled the affiliate in 2018".
In fact, in its press release WTS did not write to "ignore the matter". He wrote this:
«We were deeply shocked to read about the acts of violence to which some members of our religious community were subjected. The person under investigation is no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses: he was expelled from the congregation in December 2018.The protection of children is of the utmost concern and importance to all Jehovah's Witnesses and we are grateful to the Attorney General for the valuable work it is doing.»
They don't say they are ignorant of what happened.
He was disfellowshipped in 2018, at the end of the period of abuse that was perpetrated between 2014 and, indeed, 2018.
The legitimate question that arises is: why was he disfellowshipped?
Perhaps his crimes had been discovered?
This is something that the investigators should know, even if they will never be told, given that the JWs will invoke the so-called "confessional secrecy".
If he had been disfellowshipped for pedophilia, another question that arises is:
why was he not reported to the authorities?
(We know why...)
However, if they were to search the Kingdom Hall archives, they would find nothing.
WTS said any written records on such matters must be destroyed.
And the "elders" will keep their mouths shut, for the good of the organization.
