Not much growth in publishers in Jamaica since at least 1998. In that year, there was a peak of 11,003 publishers, while last year there was a peak of 11,991 - which was a -1 decrease over 2014.

Memorial numbers showed greater growth: In 1998, 28,063 attended but in 2015, 37,111 did so.

    y. Since when can the "owner of all the gold and silver in the universe [Jehovah]," as Watchtower has previously claimed, and Who is supposed to be their backer, not afford such basic costs?

Well, this is the same god who couldn't defeat a tribe due to their " chariots with IRON RIMMED WHEELS" Judges 1:19!!!!

Eventually the WTS won't have property to sell and the rank and file will be operating out of private homes.

It's doubtful the discrepancy between the number of JWs cited in the article and the actual "official" number is due to the former being based on census data. There is no land on earth in which census data would be four plus times the actual number of JWs (4 x 12,000).

In New Zealand, where peak publishers have hovered around 14,000 for years, the latest census data recorded just over 17,000 JWs - which obviously includes babies and inactive ones who still identify as JWs.

    from the article:

The group, whose members are well known for their door-to-door preaching and distribution of the Watchtower and Awake magazines, has also seen a scaling down of this activity, particularly in the Corporate Area, in recent times.

I'd love more info on that.

Younger Witnesses are "studying and securing jobs for themselves and their families, so the large numbers are not there anymore. But we still have Witnesses," said one local member of the church.

    That is extremely interesting.

Blondie - "Eventually the WTS won't have property to sell and the rank and file will be operating out of private homes."

Ten bucks says if that happens, the Org'll then try and spin it as "growth" by listing each Witness household as an individual congregation. :smirk:

Interesting disclosure - probably not from an officially assigned spokesperson! This could in part explain how the peak number of JWs in Jamaica has not grown much from 1998 until the present.
