Will there be a sense of urgency in 30 years?

It's pretty easy to see how current events would have any JW convinced the end is imminent, but I just don't see how there could be a major push for zealous service, pioneering, etc. decades into the future. Even if (when) world events happen periodically that could scare the R&F, there are now countless hours of HD video of JW leaders saying how close the end is. It just doesn't have that same quant look of a tattered, yellow book or a fuzzy film that can be more easily excused as the light getting brighter. It makes the lies all the more real and preserves them for posterity. Maybe that's just my wishful thinking? What are your thoughts?

Is there any urgency or zealous service now? Not if you compare to how it was back in the 80s. It's more dead comparing how it used to be.

There is undoubtedly a lot of fear and seeming confirmation of the last days. I've heard more remarks about that than since the turn of the millennium (Y2K, 9/11, Iraq war etc.) JW Broadcasting is also whipping JWs up a lot more effectively than their old wordy books & cheaply done videotapes.

The urgency thing will always be there, cause it's a control and fear tactic the org use a lot. But urgency and zealously in congregation has been low last 20 years. Nothing compared to back in the day's. And now with online thing seems more people are leaving then getting in.

JWs are under mind control, so most of them will believe anything they get told, including the end is nigh. Just look at the way their preaching has almost ground to a stop last year and this year. Its meant to be one great push before the end comes, but the complete opposite is true. So they will carry on, and grab any headline that will further their cause.

With JW`s there is always a sense of urgency , its what keeps them going .

If there was no urgency to their message the religion would slowly die out.

But surely sooner or later the "urgency" gimmick has to have run its course among the majority of them and it will not go out with a bang but a whimper.

If the WTS/JWorg is still around, yes for thats the strategic psychological game it plays onto people for exploitation and manipulation purposes.

The end is near so you better act to are directions or else.

Good things will happen to you if you do , bad things if you dont !

.......do you have any money ???

Of course. Moe, Larry and Curly will smite you if you don't pick up the pace. Just look at that fist Larry makes with his left hand. All the people that made fun of his drinking problem are going to be sorry now!

Religious zealotry and end-of-the-world-is-coming cults will be here 30 years from now, and 300 years from now. If not JWs, something else.

Such teachings fill a deep-seated primal human need. And those who recognize this and understand it will continue to make themselves very very wealthy by exploiting it.

I think because memories are short they will always have the end being right around the corner. Add to that the idea that researching or even looking at old literature is somehow evil is a recipe the cult will keep using for many years to come.

Maybe when the older generation begins to die off and families don't have to worry so much about shunning then it may become a smaller and smaller org with few 'true believers' and many just there out of familial tradition or those hedging their bets, just in case.
