For a little baby talk knowledge about Satan, JW.org breaks it down for the very simple minded, notice the naive literal way they write their horseshit.

@ Brokeback..
That is why he is a POMO coz he was a holy angel according to them and now (the then garden of eden time) he had woken up.

Sounds as good as any interpretation. I kind of like the Gnostic interpretation that basically Jehovah was a fuck up right from the beginning, and doesn't have a pure motive for forbidding knowledge namely to keep them under his control(which kinda fits the MO of the Governing Body and forbidding higher education).
@Brokeback ...
My point exactly.That was my response to Stanlive death in this thread .
Just that little instance from the bible shows me so many similarities with god and the GB today, and the way te organisation rules today. Glad I am out ....till the eldubs check on me for a chat.

@Brokeback...
I also believe that any interpretation of things basically leans on one's mindset. I say this coz of my own mindset before and after in the organization. The mind is a mindblowing mystery in itself!

If anyone wishes to read an excellent academic Paper on the subject of Satan then our very own Doug Mason has published one, dealing with the evolution of the idea of Satan, entitled : "Revolutions in Judeo-Christian Beliefs About Salvation", Part 5 is what you want.
The Search facility on here should get you the PDF. Any problem P.M with an e-mail address and I will forward the PDF to you.
Thank you Phizzy, will definitely look into it.

It's been pointed out a number of times on this forum thru the years, but here it goes again:
The serpent was 100% accurate.
God's words: Genesis 2:17: in the day you eat from it you will certainly die.
Satan's words: Genesis 3:4: You certainly will not die
Actual result: Genesis 5:5: So all the days of Adam’s life amounted to 930 years, and then he died
Satan's words: Genesis 3:5: For God knows that in the very day you eat from it, your eyes will be opened and you will be like God, knowing good and bad.
God's words / actual result: Genesis 3:22: Here the man has become like one of us in knowing good and bad
Notice there is never any promise from God that Adam would "live forever" if he didn't eat from the tree; in fact, "eternal life" was only ever mentioned after the "original sin", and had nothing to do with obedience:
Genesis 3:22: Now in order that he may not put his hand out and take fruit also from the tree of life and eat and live forever
When you've got to jump thru more hoops than a Slinky in the first 3 chapters to get your (JW) story right, you've already failed.
Zindag - "Who really was Satan?"
A man of wealth and taste, among other things.
Seriously though, has anyone ever noticed that in movies and TV, he's almost always portrayed that way... by really attractive actors, no less?
Honestly, that's almost Biblically accurate.
The movie description I actually like best was from Drive Angry...
The Accountant - "...simply the warden of a very large prison..."
