So I know one should remove his own stick from his own eye before ones self judges another, but I noticed something. It seems that the wealthy Witnesses are the elders, the circuit overseers, the governing body... Are they really different from any other 'worldly' religions or even organizations? I mean look at the jewels the friggen pope wears. And the GB, they get first class dining day in and day out and Barkley pay those that do their laundry and are awstricken just by having seen them. Kinda reminds me of a place called North Korea...

But getting back on track here. I know an elder at the congregation I used to attend, before getting banned and never having been a witness myself but having studied a lot, I find this odd about him. He has a house worth at least a million dollars, majorly expensive vehicles, his kids get the best 'worldly' education (isn't that frowned upon???!?!?) and drive around in nothing less than the best. Now if I remember correctly Matthew the tax collecter gave everything he had to the congregation and stopped living a luxurious life. John the Baptist, the most righteous imperfect man to have ever exhisted ate honey and berries and lived in the wilderness hated by the wealthy Pharisees. Then there is Jesus, God's only begotten son who never even owned his own house and slept outside and had next to nothing extravagant but the basics to live in his preaching. And we are supposed to follow these God-like mortals that have literally no extra contact with the Ancient of days? I mean sure there was King David, Joseph, and Moses who lived in wealth for a time. But they all lived under the Law before Jesus came and it was a totally different time period. I guess all I am saying is 1John 2:15, James 2:5, Matthew 6:24, 1John 3:17...must I really go on.

If anyone has anything to add or to say feel free to comment but beware! I will read your comment. 😀👌

There many elders who exploit their position with their congregations to show their own power and wealth in front of others in the congregation, kind of like see god is with me, blessed me because look what I have or hold unto myself. Nothing ever happened to these guys even when the CO came to visit, a matter fact they took him out to the most expensive restaurants in town in their Mercedes and Cadillacs.

I remember the PO in my old Hall giving a Sunday talk on the topic of worldly materialism, after the meeting I had noticed he had a brand new Cadillac in the parking lot and was wearing an expensive hand tailored suit. Even then I thought sheesh what two faced hypocrite.

Materialism is not the same as having nice stuff.

Materialism is not the same as having nice stuff.

A basic four door Chevy and suit from Sears is nice stuff.

An expensive Cadillac or Mercedes and the most expensive hand made suit is over exorbitant and unnecessary luxury, that is showy and narcissistic.

Particularly when you are suppose to be an example to the rest of the congregation

    as a role model.

If you were never a JWS you would have never been banned from a Kingdom Hall by an elder no less.

    I smell disingenuous bullshit!

Idk how it got posted more than once. I was the other day trying to post it 'once' and the forum post got locked on processing request. So I refreshed the page after a minute or two and tried a few times until it posted. Sorry!

But as for being banned, yea... I am. After studying for awhile I made a statement that they took as a terrostic threat so they said never come back lol.

So Finkelstein, do you make the standard? A Mercedes is wrong but a Chevy No? Ridiculous.

When I was at the Big House, a recently-deceased GB member had a fairly new Mercedes moved to Wallkill to make space for a brand new model of the car to be parked in the 25 CH garage (before he passed of course). Another GB member had a brand new Cadillac CTS. All, presumably, were "gifts".

The nicest elder I ever knew was also the wealthiest person in the congregation. Really a nice guy, who stepped down for a while because he couldn't take the BS from the other elders. They talked him in to coming back because everybody liked him and he made things run smoothly.
