Waton, if I understand "exactly, I believe JJ was mistaken about that. that idea was not a wt doctrine for the last 70 years", I was trying to show how the WTS changes their beliefs whenever they start getting backed into the corner on the current one. I always wondered if the anointed were to live through Armageddon and live on the earth afterwards for a time, that would mean they would not be in heaven for the wedding of Jesus and the Bride of Christ. (now remember this does not mean I think this now, just reporting, not supporting). It bothered me for quite awhile and I commented on it here on JWN, but then patience paid off, the WTS changed it to the current belief. I always wondered if certain jws read my comments and realized they had to change it?

When I first left, in jest I combined the scripture where god pronounced a period of 120 days before he would bring the flood. I labeled the date of the pronouncement equivalent to 1914. Then I added 120 years to that and came up with 2034, a WT tactic when determining dates, combining 2 concepts that had nothing to do with each other and coming to a conclusion. So it was this slogan, "No More, after Thirty-Four." My husband and I joke about that, he'll yell out that to me. It seemed to stop being a "joke" and other ex-jws have used this idea. But it is still a joke to us, and it still makes us laugh.

blondie, don't you mean 120 years before the flood, instead of 120 days before the flood?

Yeah, the ark was not a quick build. Jesus the carpenter still having no power tools must have known that.

blondi, think about it. The 144 000 sealed anointed which wt counts because of their partaking, have to be battle ready at Armageddon, been conscripted for combat not later than the outset of the Great Tribulation,

at the same time they can not be wt's last generation, because "jesus" clearly said, that that generation would die after all the end prophecy details have been fulfilled, have come to pass. so,

wt is totally wrong in calling the last generation the anointed. All people, good, medium and bad, anointed or just abstainers are coexisting anyway, but wt went out on the limb, in their inward looking way, to contradict their reigning king himself.

Ohhh....I remember they quoting Isaiah 26:20 "Go my people, enter your inner rooms, and shut your doors behind you, hide youself for a brief moment, until the wrath has passed by".

The Borg seems pretty interested in the Ukraine situation, they could be getting in a dormant mode just by saying that the Great Tribulation just started.

just by saying that the Great Tribulation just started.

    No, why wasn’t I told!

If court failures, tanking public opinion, and loss of tax-exemption really did get past a certain tolerance threshold, the GB and a handful of select Helpers could secretly bugger off to the Caymans (where the Org has millions stashed - seriously), whilst letting the rank-and-file loyalists convince themselves they'd died and/or been "raptured" away.

I'd actually be fine with this.

    Know why?

    'Cause...

    a) ...the heirarchy and said loyalists couldn't tie their fucking shoelaces without the GB's direction, thus further hampering the Org's ability to function, and...

    b) ...they could never leave and run the risk of exposure, embarrassment, and uncomfy questions.

It would amount to a self-imposed life sentence in exile.

The term "The Great Tribulation" comes from Revelation 7:14.

What is the context? John was watching a scroll being opened one seal at a time.

The 2nd, 3rd and 4th seal tell of horsemen that bring great tribulation to the earth.

The 5th seal is about the 144,000.

The 6th seal tells about a great crowd that survive that great tribulation.

What tribulation? The one that is being described to John in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th seals of that scroll.

Yes, those horsemen are the cause of "the great tribulation."

And when did those horsemen ride? From 1914 onward.

We are living in the great tribulation. It is not a future event.

Christ tells us what conditions will be like when Armageddon strikes:

(Luke 17:26-30) Moreover, just as it occurred in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of man: 27 they were eating, they were drinking, men were marrying, women were being given in marriage until that day when Noah entered into the ark, and the Flood came and destroyed them all. 28 Likewise, just as it occurred in the days of Lot: they were eating, they were drinking, they were buying, they were selling, they were planting, they were building. 29 But on the day that Lot went out of Sodʹom, it rained fire and sulfur from heaven and destroyed them all. 30 It will be the same on that day when the Son of man is revealed.

That is not describing a world reeling from great tribulation. The first horsemen rode at the beginning of the last days. The fourth horseman is relegated to a certain quarter of the earth. (Re 6:8) Not a fourth of the earth as in every fourth house on your block, but "the fourth part".

What quarter of the earth? Probably the same part of the earth mentioned when the sixth angel blew his trumpet where angels were untied: The area around the Euphrates river. (Re 9:14, 15)

And what has been happening in "the fourth part of the earth" surrounding that river here at the end of the last days?

blondie, don't you mean 120 years before the flood, instead of 120 days before the flood? DJ w Thanks for catching that! Of course, there is no scriptural support for this, I said it in the past as a joke, not a real belief, mine especially. It shows how easy it is to set a date. The WTS once said the great tribulation started in 1914 and was temporarily put on hold until a future date. The WTS then changed it to that the great tribulation had not started yet and was yet future. They through some jws into a loop, my family had always maintained that the GT had not started in 1914, but kept it to themselves. But when the change came, they burned up the telephone lines discussing it (across the country when long distance was expensive). I don't support the WTS views past or present, just reporting not supporting.
