The prohibition of dating those outside the JW org is a protection. It truly is a protection for "worldly" people. Sure, everybody has their baggage. Due to allegiance to the org, JWs tend to have much more baggage when it comes to life in general. I wouldn't wish a stunted JW spouse on my worst enemy.
Do you think its stupid that JWs can't date regular people?

I dated an [inactive] JW girl, whereas I was conservative Lutheran.
Didn't work out so well. Find my two previous threads I started and read them.

Nowawake14 Most witness guys I've grown up with were kinda dorks, to be honest.
A (lovely genuine warm) piece of shit namedTateanother reason to be depressed, hearing a member of the opposite sex talk about how dorky and weird JW guys are. I just wish they could cut us some slack, especially those of us that were born in. It's not our fault that our parents chose to raise us in a cult. Maybe if we could have been raised in the real world, and allowed to experience normal developmental milestones, then maybe we wouldn't be so weird and dorky.
I think I see the problem here.
The real issue is JWs are not allowed to express themselves - their real selves -authentically. Thats why they come across in a stilted, formulaic way ( dorky?). Underneath we are all unique and quirky but JWs have to behave in such a robotic way, even down to the timbre of voice and speech patterns. So sad.

Don't feel bad. It's human natue to find people in your own clan, tribe, social group, etc. (i.e. people like yourself) to be boring and unattractive. It's one of the reasons so many people find foreign accents fascinating and downright sexy.
Even were that not the case, the JW faith is hard on everybody and JW females have their own issues to deal with.

In my opinion, some JW moms were not just dragon-like in their vehemence but stage mothers as well. I noticed some were so controlling I think they caused neurosis in some of their sons..Very unhealthy.
I’m sure glad I wasn’t raised in the religion. I came in as a young adult and I thought it was so bizarre that JWs got married so young. There was a girl who was married at sixteen! Maybe in generations past a girl might get married that young but not so much in modern times. So called ‘worldlies’ usually were in early to mid-twenties when they married.
Naturally, I did not fit in as a young working woman. It was my observation that any desirable JW men back then were already married. I was regarded with suspicion and fear in a congregation of mostly born-ins who, I swear, were brought up in a broom closet.

I think its stupid to make it a set policy that JWs are not to have close relationships with non members.
I know of quite a few of JWS woman who wont date a non member and JWs men as well.

Yes. Inbreeding is never a good thing.

My highschool Jw (that was how we did it back then - the w was always lower case) classmate, whose family introduced me to The Cult, was actually a pretty Worldly guy. His girlfriend was a fellow classmate (Presbyterian) and his behaviors were not unusual otherwise either Yep, he could curse and swear just like the rest of the guys in class. That was back in 1957 so obviously things have changed a great deal. Or maybe that congregation was out of the ordinary.
But then it may have been that he was very skillfully living a double life also...
I was associated with the witnesses for only about 15 months after baptism so never did find out for certain what his real story was.
