I lost 3 stone last year at a rate of 3lb per week without additional exercise and without getting hungry.

Everything the health and nutrition industry - and official government guidance - has told you is wrong!

Fat and protein will not make you fat - neither will it cause heart disease. Being overweight is just one symptom of metabolic disease. It is likely that around 80% of adults suffer from metabolic disease. If we did it right our hospitals would be half empty. It is ALL about insulin control and very little to do with calories.

Carbohydrates are the enemy. I didn't go for KETO I just massively reduced carbs,

I no longer take medication for acid-reflux and my joint pains are gone. My blood pressure is optimal and resting heart rate below 60. I haven't felt as fit for years.

The story of how the 'experts' got it so wrong is incredibly compelling - it is a disgrace. See 'Good Calories, Bad Calories' by Gary Taubes for the full story.

    By the way hello again.

Oh my GOD!!! Cofty's still alive... and even healthy according to his post. Please stay this time. I so missed your contributions to this forum.

Oh, and your post is very interesting. I've been thinking a lot about such lately. And thanks for the Gary Taubes book recommendation. Just checked it out; had never heard of him.

Yeah -- I checked the date of Cofty's post (couldn't believe) and what a wonderful surprise!

Cofty -- what about law of thermal dynamics and calories. I was convinced you could lose weight on the twinkie or candy bar diet (not that it's nutritional or healthy) if you don't eat more than you burn.

Ahh, another diet book for the collection -- I'm ordering Taubes' book/thx! They thought Atkins was a loon but he stressed high protein/fats and finding your critical carbohydrate level.

Welcome back Cofty ! thanks for the recommend, I have ordered Taubes' book, which may spur me to do some "weight watching" again.

I did the same as you, worked out a sensible system of losing weight, without silly cutting out of any foods, combined with exercise, and lost 3 and half stone, by December 2019, then, what with bloody lock-downs etc. I have put over a stone back on !

I need to lose weight, and get fit, sadly my great pleasure of walking in the Countryside is denied me, because of personal circumstances. (No, I am NOT in Prison......... yet!)

    Cofty,

-so good to see you commenting again!

I am more of a ‘lurker/shirker’ type, mainly due to domestic difficulties compounded by age and poor health, so yes, I will be reading the book you suggested, many thanks,

and, - hope to read comments from you again on regular basis!

was a -- have you read the one individual's book, "Eat Rich Live Long?" An interesting comment on amazon reviews and poster is into the book "Good Calories, Bad Calories, by Gary Taubes (Cofty's recommendation). I ordered -- have to dig it out. I watched parts of the video link trying to get the info of guest's eating plan and the 'Have you Fallen for Food Lies' -- all looks interesting. Hoping there was a book rather than movie/website to join. Keep us posted if you've joined.

All the negativity Dr. Robert Atkins endured and so many high protein eating plans out the past decades.
