I really enjoy Cornwell's books. I 've read the Arthur series (Warlord Chronicles), the Grail Quest series, and the Warrior Chtonicles (Last Kingdom). This the led me to Sarum by Edward Rutheruord and then his book London. Both highly recommended in that order. I am currently reading Russka also by Rutherfurd.

I'm currently reading "Mary Queen of Scots" by Antonia Fraser and "Life Unfolding" by Jamie A. Davies.
On TV I enjoy most light entertainment and documentaries. Time Team. Car SOS. Masterchef. Frasier. Big Bang Theory. History Channel (Spoiler alert, Hitler was bad).

If you're into historical fiction, Ken Follet's Pillars of the Earth is a great read. Set in the 12th century, it sets a fictional family and village into historical events such as the Thomas Becket murder. He also wrote a follow up called World without End, set 100 odd years later.

@schnell Diablo 3 is insane fun if you like a Warcrafty type game. It's cheap with real replay value.
