The GB's demand that JW's desist from listening to apostates is a camouflaged way of demanding Ostrich like behaviour - sticking the head in the sand. As so many others point out, why shy away from anyone if you really do have "the truth"?
Some "apostates" today are still Christians. They therefore challenge the GB and JW hierarchy just as Jesus challenged the ecclesiastical authorites (Pharisees) in his time on earth. Nothing wrong with that. The responses if the GBoJW is very wrong however! Difficult to see anything right about them mind you!

The world is the wonderful place it is, because of kids like this, and institutions that have helped budding geniuses. On average, pupils will always produce better results than their teachers, otherwise we would be still swinging in the trees.
Apostates will always have the very ideas that will appear as wt's new light in later publications. (at least as examples of more mirth)
This illustration is used to freeze any advanced thinking in the new recruit's (bible study's) mind.

If you asked a J.W. if God or Jesus would give them a bad example to follow, they'd immediately say "No!"
Ask them to consider Job 1:7-12, Job 2:2-6, and Matthew 4:3-10 where God and Jesus both had discussions with the arch apostate, Satan.
When they try to reason on this "apparent" anomaly, remind them that Jesus was always willing to talk about the scriptures - especially with the apostate Pharisees, (offspring of vipers & of Satan himself) in order to either teach them or to highlight their poisonous teachings and practices. (John 3:1-21; Matthew 3:1-12; Matthew 8:13-59) At Mark 5:7-13, Jesus even spoke to apostate demons!
He never shunned anyone during his ministry.

It never is about making sense of what they say. They are more than happy to say anything and everything that makes their point and keep their people believing their crap.
My guess is that you can show them how their own words are misused and how they make no sense, and how they can be used completely against them, but in the end they are not going to respect people who leave. That is because they have to protect and reinforce their bad decision of remaining JWs.

Problem is - most JW's believe that what the governing body says IS as IMPORTANT as what the Bible says. That essentially the governing body IS " Jehovah " all wrapped up into these 8 men ( or however many there are now ) . So " rebelling " against WT leaders is considered rebelling against " God " . Which prevents most JW's from rebelling in the first place
