"aww, But it's not MY fault, someone else is to blame!"

I was just thinking about the account of Adam and Eve, and how they both attempted to 'pass the buck', or shift the blame to someone else. Eve to the snake, and Adam to Eve...

    Does that sound familiar??

The Society has never taken ownership of its mistakes! Be it past inaccurate teachings, writings, or ideas. Or be it the appalling mismanagement of child abuse cases etc...

NOTHING is ever their fault! They have consistently passed the blame to someone else (be it "satan's media", or the "expectations of some misguided individuals" etc...)

If we raised children who always shifted the blame or tried to excuse their errors, it would be tragic, and we would help them learn the importance of owning their mistakes......but somehow our "motherly organization" is free to do this and get away with it.

This is one of the traits of a narcissist - they are never wrong. That's why people often don't readily identify the JW religion to be a cult because since the days of Russell and Rutherford there hasn't been any one charismatic leader to point to and say "he claims to be God's spokeperson, do not question him, he is never wrong, he never apologizes..." etc etc all the things you would expect to be said of the religious narcissist cult leader.

"The Society" does display all the traits of a narcissist and a cult leader in bucket loads they're just careful to do so collectively. I call it the "I am Sparticus" defense because there is no one person to identify as "Sparticus" they're all Sparticus and so in effect none of them are Sparticus.

Hey jp1692, nope, I've known this for many years... You are correct. This is a well known point for those of us who have left.

I was thinking about the lurkers who come here...so for some reason it just stewed in my mind today, and I felt the need to post this.

    Good point, stucky.

Although I think the bible, along with ALL so called 'holy books' are just man made, there are some good metaphors to be found in some of them.

Adam blames Eve, and every JW believes that Eve ate the fruit and later gave some to Adam.

This is not exactly what the Bible says in Gen 3:6:

(NWT) "So she began taking of its fruit and eating it. Afterward she gave some also to her husband when with her and he began eating it."

(Every other Bible in the world) "So she took some of the fruit and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it."

It seems that Adam was right there with Eve, watching what was going on and being a direct accomplice in this eating, but the WT want you to think that it was all Eve's fault.

Nice one Splash! I like learning new things. I went to Bible Gateway and by golly, you are right. Lot's of translations render it this way.
