A PARISHIONER arriving at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Berrimah crashed through two church walls, missing occupants waiting for a service to start.

The 78-year-old female driver was taken to hospital with cuts and bruises. Police believed she may also be suffering from shock.

Duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen said police were called to the church on Vanderlin Drive, which is less than a kilometre from the Peter McAuley Centre, at around 3.30pm.

“She was arriving for the 4pm afternoon service about 30 minutes early,” Supt Jorgensen said. “It appears the woman mistook the accelerator for the brake and crashed through the walls.

“Luckily given the time of the day and how early she was, there was only about 10 people inside when normally there would have been many more.

“We are not expecting to prosecute as a result of the accident, however we will be liaising with authorities in regards to the license.”

So glad no one seriously hurt.

Too many older ones who maybe should not be driving is all that may be going on. Perhaps not taking her meds right. Who knows for sure?

    i feel sorry for her.

Shes 78? A loving bro or sis should be picking her up and transporting her to and fro......I sincerely believe that people get too old to safely maneuver a car....different ages depending on the individual...poor old dear needs to hang up the car keys.

Meanwhile, a lot of members of the hall are thinking "Awright! I can fade back for a bit while we 'go to another Hall' !"
