  You are just great the way you are, don't worry about us here, you have too much to worry about without bein' worried about being a grumpy captain - love your posts btw, always so genuuine & real, no bs which is why I guess it's killing you to be dishonest to your Dad.

  Puppy brand new I think mrs cappy is one cool mama & the little cappies too young to be a problem.

  Just take it easy, DONT be hard on yourself. I suppose there will come a time when the little ones will put you in it "grandpa but the birds evolved from dinosaurs ....who is Jehovah?"

  However you are new to this, only you know how best to approach dad, when the time comes...I understand how you feel, it's a nightmare..you just dont want to hurt them, go easy on yourself this is NOT YOUR FAULT OR OF YOUR DOING

  I feel for you Cappy. I have a similar situation and I have to watch myself.

  We are doing this out of love and respect for our family - NOT out of respect for the Org. Right?

  (I must tell myself that many times each day)

  This very long holiday weekend will be over soon, hang in there!

  Unfortunately we weren't DF when we totally disassociated back in the day......... mid 1960's. Looking back it was so cut and dry I think we would have been better off being shunned.....my wife agrees by the way.

  There's no pleasure not having honest conversations with Mom and Dad, No pleasure seeing them waste the remaining years of their lives in a BS religion. Absolutely not trying to change things when you know it wouldn't matter on any level.

  
  It's a grind cappytan....no doubt about it. My wife and I had to put up with 4 decades of twice, three times a year visits.
  

  They knew our feelings about their 'truth', but it didn't matter. They still couldn't control themselves with stories about brother or sister so in so. Latest news from the WT. How wonderful it was to be a JW.

  At the time my wife and I were winning awards and becoming successful as artists but we didn't measure up because we weren't JW's.

  Who we became and what we were had no real value for them.

  The pay off after My sister and mother passed away was my niece, who was born 7 years after my wife and i left. She has been shunning us since she came of age. We ignore it but it's the last of my family and there's nothing I can do about it.

  On a happier note we have our son's family including 3 grandchildren who live a mile away from us, holidays, birthdays, Sunday evening family dinners................. it's not only all good it's all better.

  I appreciate the sentiment. I rethink it everyday. The evidence leads me to the same conclusion every day. Who knows? Maybe someday Vishnu, Jesus or Yahweh will appear and help me change a flat tire and I'll become a believer again.

  Except Ray Franz left Bethel because he had a crisis of conscience. ToMo is the ultimate "company man" dictating the appropriate tightness of our pants and what kind of socks are acceptable or not.

  There is no comparison between the two. Your dad clearly lacks anything resembling critical thinking skills.

  At some point you're going to find that you'll have to sit down and have a heart to heart, "Mom and Dad, I love you and would like to maintain a relationship with you, but I can no longer pretend to believe things that are nonsense. I hope you can respect my integrity to reality, but if you cannot then that is your decision to make.

  Everyone is an atheist in regards to most of the gods men have invented over our history: Thor, Isis, Ra, Apollo, etc.

  Tony will continue to be a loose cannon and will never straighten up. That gives you a win-win situation:

  • Tony keeps saying stupid sh!t and Jehovah doesn't deal with him--Dad, you said Jehovah would get rid of that crazy but he keeps using his position as a soapbox to spew weird personal ideas. That's how the holy spirit works?
    
  • Tony somehow gets removed from the GB--Dad, it looks like these GB dudes aren't really channels to God because they get appointed with no real abilities, say dumb stuff, and get removed. That's how the holy spirit works?
