What did you do with all your old books and magazines from the Watchtower? Did you throw all of them away, or did you keep a few?

I still kept a few bibles and a couple of books. How about you?

One of these days, I will make a big clean up and throw most of it away. When I was active, I would never have dreamed of throwing that away. Many witnesses had books and magazines 20 and 30 years old.

Why should we keep books that we will never read again, and on top of that, it is old light.

Maybe the only good thing about keeping old books is that we can prove to a new witness how much the Watchtower teachings changed throughout the years.

When I finally "walked away", the only thing I kept out of an extensive home library of JW literation was the most current JW Bible, which was given to me by my dad as a gift. I packed it away, and didn't even remember I had it until years later.

I didn't just load up the stuff and take it to Salvation Army or Good Will; I put it in the garbage for the dump. Seemed appropriate to me at the time.

Even if a person decided to go back to the hall, these old books wouldn't serve anymore. They are outdated.

What is the Watchtower's point of view on old publications? Do the active witnesses keep ALL of their literature indefinitely?

We've got literature going back to the 30's and 40's. We'll keep it for a while since the Witnesses were such a big part of our life. Eventually I'm sure we will box them up and put them in the garage.

I have thrown away the majority of it, but kept the bibles and a few books just for show.

Well our daughter had a great time having a bonfire with all the magazines, the books still have to go. I have kept my Bibles, and some reference books, but the rest, well another bonfire beckons - my daughter rubs her hands with glee... Mrs Nightwarrior

I got tired of the space they took up, and reorganizing them.....by size......by year......by colour.

Kept some, that had the damning evidence in them, that I discovered they had changed in new reprints, or on the CDs.

Anyone who has earlier publications, pre 1960 and older, I would suggest checking E-Bay. Many people who are doing research, want to see the evidence in the publication for themselves, not what someone may have scanned, or transcribed.

I know I was like that, skeptical of what others were telling me until I got to see it with my own 2 eyes. You could even make a few bucks, though the rate of return, is poor.

Did you ever sit back and think of all the money you wasted purchasing all that junk !
