I was thinking of this thread for a little while and I came up with this idea:

    - what is the reason certain politicians want certain groups of people to give up their guns or the right to self defence

    - what is the reason the JW want their followers to give up their guns and self defence

it is for the sole purpose of creating victims and having that group of the victimized are more receptive to very invasive procedures they tell them will protect them.

This is the same reason the Dems don’t want black people to have agency in the voting procedures and why everyone has to have their unique oppressed gender, so they remain victims, forever and victims are easy to lead.

Seems if a person did use a gun to defend themselves, they could be disfellowshipped especially if they were blood guilty and killed the criminal. STUPID

While Brother Breaux was going to an extreme with his view, he was correct in not relying on guns for protection. The Brother in the video was just waving a gun. He didn't have the conviction to use it. That would be the most dangerous to himself or his family. When a person has a gun, s/he has to be prepared to use it without hesitation. No JW would would have such preparation. They would hurt themselves or others or have it stolen or taken away.

Using a gun for self defense and then killing someone is not blood guilty, there is an affirmative defense for that.

Wisdom can find ways to protection without a gun. Macgyver didn't use guns, because brains are better.

I guess the WT's own Awake magazine must be lying then: Quote edited to make the point.

    When You Are Threatened

That was a good article. At the time, i thought it left things open to the conscience of the individual. But, then they wrote the July 2017 QFR which in part says

How a Christian chooses to protect himself, his family, or his possessions is, of course, largely a personal matter, as is his choice of employment. That said, Bible principles reflect God’s wisdom and his love for us. Out of regard for those principles, spiritually mature Christians choose not to keep a firearm for protection against other humans. They know that true and lasting security comes to those who demonstrate trust in God by living in harmony with Bible principles.—Ps. 97:10; Prov. 1:33; 2:6, 7.

As for me and my household, we choose our guns.

    Gary Bro's a dick.

If you ever catch a criminal in your house, go get your gun and shoot the f**ker.

Ain't gonna lie, guns are great for home defense.

I would imagine if an axe murderer walked onto Bethel property the Watchtower would call the police knowing full well the police may shoot and kill the axe murderer. How does having someone else use deadly force to protect yourself absolve you of being "blood guilty"?

The Watchtower is rather hypocritical in this aspect.

They seem to be suggesting a sort of "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding what measures a JW might employ, short of firearms.

I know an elder whose "open secret" was that he kept a baseball bat under his bat for any unwelcome visitors.

As I understand, a bat is considered one of the best defensive weapons in the case of an intruder not carrying a firearm.

spiritually mature Christians choose not to keep a firearm for protection against other humans.

Translation: Keeping a firearm for the purpose of self-defense will get you removed from any "privileges" (elder, pioneer, etc.) but won't get you DF'ed.
