All the ways that the org now dips into JWs pockets is very similar to how governments tax people. Take a little bit from a thousand different places and people don't notice or complain as much as they would if it was one big tax. JWs are putting money out to the local congregation, circuit assembly, regional assembly, directly to the worldwide work, directly to the org for disasters, and willed directly to the org. In the past, the local and circuit would have been used only for local needs (put back into use for the local members), but now the org has its hands in those funds as well. The pubs don't even realize how much of their contributions are now sent back to "mother".

This grab is so new that they didn't even put in the revised OD book which has the Our Christian Life and Ministry meeting in it which hasn't even started yet. Either the need for cash is so urgent or they didn't want to reveal how circuit funds are spent to the sheeple or both. Simply amazing what the flock doesn't know and shame on the elders for keeping it hush-hush. -
