Jehovah's Witnesses' actions of "love" are dependent upon what "mother" approves of. If the organization says that it's alright to extend love and mercy to those that have sinned and are before the elders in a judicial case, the elders will show a measure of "love and mercy". If the GB says that it is better to keep the organization clean and disfellowshipping is the proper course, then elders will not show "love and mercy" and will instead cut such a sinner off. If the Society says that we should extend obvious Christian kindness to "worldly people" and disfellowshipped ones, the brotherhood will "show love". If the Watchtower states that we should NOT have any dealings with DF'd ones or "worldly people", any manifestation of love goes out the window........JW's "love" ONLY when the organization says it's OK to.

after stopping a study elders and other witnesses told me god was going to kill me for leaving. I said well not today.
one minute they were so nice then they were sneering and going down lists of all the fun things im allowing to get between me and god.
i said i will continue to study the bible just not with you. im not leaving god im just leaving you. hey were like he's gonna kill you with all the rest t armageddon.
i said no he wont ,i know you want him to but he wont.

The reason that most JWs support shunning is that they genuinely think the person is headed for certain death, and they view shunning as a necessary evil to save that person. Maybe a few get off on being able to hurt people they didn't like anyway, but that's not the norm.
At one of my few Memorial appearances, a nice older sister said "Oh, we'd love to see you back at meetings. I'm sure your daughter wants you there with her in the new system." I thought about slugging her, but instead just smiled and moved on.

When JW's unknowingly insult you, what can you do??? It just goes to show how bad the thinking process has turned out, but they would die for ya!
