I have an old friend , now just facebook friend who travels the world on a big inheritance. His facebook feed is nothing but this endless right wing tirade , most against trans-people or the LGBTQ community or whatever it is called. Not exactly my cup of tea but live and let live. I don't really care.

He visits Auschwitz and talks about sad it is humans could do that to each other and then goes back to his endless tirade of shitposting.

You didn't get it. The whole point. Fucking idiot.

If someone has a friend who they refer to as a "fucking idiot" what does that make them?

    Asking for a friend.

Trust me, the thought has crossed my mind.

I grew up in a community of about 15,000 with a surrounding area of maybe 20,000 people. We had a single high school that had maybe 1800 students in it at any given time. The school had everything ( athletics, academics, trades, accelerated programs, remedial programs ). Being a weird JW kid , I seemed to make friends all over the place without really fitting into any group. I took a standard academic program with some trade classes.

I am 50 years old now. Most of those people I haven't seen in 30 years. No big deal, life happens. Of course we have all reconnected on facebook.

The funny thing I notice is the remedial kids seem to now be the resident experts on Vaccines, Ukraine , Chem Trails etc etc. You don't even need to pass high school level biology or chemistry to suddenly know more than all the world top scientists and doctors.

Back to my original point, Visiting Auschwitz and still shitposting about transgenders is kind of disappointing. You figure there would be some kind of Road to Damascus moment but I guess not.

the major difference between jws and Nazism: JWs follow orders but always re-interpret them for their own localities, whereas the Nazis obeyed Hitler 100% and never dared deviate from their orders no matter where they were.

UKPimo if you think people didn't use the Nazi race theories and its general tyranny to settle local scores and dispose of rivals/mete out punishment over petty jealousies etc, you don't understand human behaviour much.

I agree Watchtower has a brass nerve comparing the suffering of its members - broadly caused by the fragile ego of their own leader - with what the Jews/gypsies went through.

Riley right at this moment US politicians are rushing through a bill attempting to protect title 9 - (that's women's sports). It's beyond belief they are tearing down every protection women have fought for over the last 200 years - from Elizabeth Fry, who demanded women & children have their own prisons, to women's sports & safe spaces in DV refuges etc

My own great grandmother, who helped raise me, was not allowed to vote until she was 30. That's how short a time it's been The younger generation take these hard won protections and rights for granted & casually give them away, so far from those days are they.

Similarly, the current students at elite US universities are demanding Jewish students don't sit in the first 2 rows in class, so far from WW2 & the holocaust are they also.

You are right in your sentiment, though, that those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it. I just think you're looking in the wrong direction at this particular moment in time🤔

We moved on from Central Europe to Rome. I’m sitting in front of the Coliseum at a cafe’ right now…. And guess who walks by?
