We had the CO stay in our home many moons ago and he checked out our book shelves (several racy ones there) and our video library. He said he watched Schindler's List. (WOW! Rated R)

Witness 007- I have two elders that have visit me. I wonder what they think about all my medals I got from Service or my large handgun collection. And of course all my books on.various worldly topics.

    HOSER:

That is true that Jehovah’s Witnesses were not taught appropriate boundaries.

As someone not born-in I found this shocking. But, they learned enough about me anyway. I think they had less respect for a single woman’s boundaries than a married person. They thought they could come up to me and say anything they wanted or ask any question. I got a reputation as being ‘outspoken’ because I answered a few of these nervy idiots and they didn’t particularly like my answer.

Back then: I might have had a few sisters over a few times and a shepherding call once (a mistake I never made again).. And this was all back when I was ‘in’ and a ‘believer’. Now? 🤣There’d never be a reason JWs would be allowed to set foot in my home.

@Witness 007: You really think you have JW "friends?" LOL!!! You're fooling yourself. Hell, to them you're merely an "acquaintance." Everything in JW-Land is conditional. Conditional on you warming a seat in the Kingdumb Hell and stuffing the donation box and kissing the right Elduh asses.

Let me guess; you've got money? Cause any non-JW or faded JW who doesn't have money is left to rot; no JW gives a crap. But oh hey, you've got a business or money? Come on back, Brother!

The WT does not name books etc that it finds unacceptable but individuals will always seek to impose their views on others . We have had it with Lord of the Rings dvd casually left out.

    Just ignore the busybodies.

The only time I saw the WTS mention a specific movie/book and that it was not appropriate for Christians was E.T. Awake 1983 7/8 p.27 "Christ or E.T.?

E.T.—The Extra-Terrestrial burst on the scene in the United States this past summer, attracting theater audiences in record numbers….Interestingly, many have noted parallels in the story to that of the life of Jesus Christ. Said Professor Albert E. Millar, Jr.: “I think the thing that struck me most was the idea of the capacity to heal, and then when E.T. died and was resurrected.” We have in E.T., then, an enchanting Messiahlike figure that gives momentary emotional release to our need for a true friend with powers greater than ours. Therein lies the movie’s great appeal...Later on, when E.T. gets drunk sampling beer, and Elliott in telepathic sympathy feels the effects, it is all portrayed as something cute. Further, some of the language used by these children is gross profanity. This, along with the supernatural aspects of the movie, has bothered many Christians...E.T. may be a skillfully constructed and highly entertaining movie. But it provides no substitute for our True Friend, Jesus Christ, who saves us from this dying, wicked world. After all, E.T. is make-believe. Christ is reality." The WTS makes this seem to be a personal choice but this article is aimed at non-jws because it is in the Awake magazine. But I'm sure some jws used this to browbeat other jws with it.
