Circuit Assemblies in the "Good Old Days"

I worked in the kitchen a few times in the olden days.
Every meal, every assembly, was exactly the same. Broiled chicken leg + thigh, mashed potatoes, canned green beans.
I remember this giant vat, maybe 60 or 70 gallon size, of mashed potatoes, and this big hook or blade or something stirring them.
There was also a cafeteria style counter where you could get sandwiches - that's where I always went.
Then they went to the pre-packaged food in the 80's & 90's, then even got rid of that.

Reason CA and DA food went was that Society did not want the Tax man poking around in the accounts as Assembly food should have had VAT paid on it for years. Similar reason in US with sales tax by both state and federal would be involved.
Removing food vastly reduced the fun of people at assemblies as they worked together on food service. No work in kitchen, just sit and listen, removed all the fun and association.

Verily and amen.
My best memories of CAs and DAs are of cutting up with my fellow compatriots in food preparation / serving.

Good memories.
A civic auditorium was rented in our town on the California coast. Big trucks came into the parking lot, Friday afternoon, and food prep began at 3:00. We had a hot meal that evening. Cal Eckler was in charge.
Those were truly different times, when I still enjoined being "involved in a world of Theocratic activity." Yes, the expression that we used.

Ken Richmond appeared at the opening of one of my fave films: BLACK NARCISSUS.

Black Narcissus is a coldly intellectual morality drama tinged with a cynicism which has the effect of casting, as it were, a gratuitous reflection upon those who, regardless of sect, have forsaken worldly pleasures out of sheer religious devotion. This is so because the two dominant characters are basically frustrated women who seek solace in religion after unhappy romances.

I was about 12 years old and working with the cafeteria dept. I was cleaning the tray off by scraping them in the garbage can. There was a some lima bean in a white cream sauce that no one ate. So we put hundreds of servings of this slop in a 55 gallon drum . so during the talk we were trying to get on a hand truck and it slid off the hand truck and down the stairs. So as kids we just ran off, never told anyone. Oh those days were fun!

Wow, I guess we were lucky to have such good food at the circuit assembly.
Homemade cinnamon rolls for breakfast
Scrambled eggs (not that powdlered stuff) with bacon bits
muffin eggs ()not those at DC)
Great coffee
orange juice
fresh apples/banana
beef tips and noodles
green beans from the garden
port chops and applesauce
bars and cookies donated by the sisters
milk/white and chocolate
taco bar
salad bar
donuts made at the assembly
soft serve ice cream

Half Banana, it would be interesting to find out whatever became of Broad in his final years, I remember his talks at Twickenham, a Bethel heavyweight and powerful speaker
