"Statistics prove that rates of violent offending for trans identified males remain the same as the general male population." - it would be interesting to see the rates for sexual abuse, and what proportion of trans inmates are in there for sex crimes.

What is 'interesting' is the rates of assault against trans people. Nearly 1 in 2 will be assaulted in their lifetimes as compared to the also horrific stat that 1 in 5 sis women will be. 1 in 71 sis men will be.

The whole Cis Gender or “Sis” whatever they say is an utterly ridiculous/stupid label that needs to be erased from our culture.
Let’s think about Trans people and the assault statistic. Isn’t that common sense as these people are most likely to be in situations where assault can occur? For example, are we shocked that Male prostitutes are sexually assaulted more than Heterosexual men? Not really. It’s common sense.
What’s interesting about people with true Gender dysmorphia is that they are rare, mostly male, and the majority accept their bodies by their 20s but about 80% are Gay. This isn’t new information. What we have now is an agenda being forced upon vulnerable young people who just need an adult to to say, “It’s ok that you feel uncomfortable in your body. Everyone does at some point. You will be ok.”
Instead we have “Gender Affirming Care” which flies in the face of “Do No Harm” when it comes to helping children navigate the world.
It amazes me that some people who know that the Governing Body coercing minors into baptism and refusing blood transfusions and wasting their childhood in Field Service amounts to child abuse cannot understand the permanent harm being done to children in the name of Gender Affirming Care..

@peacefulpete - yes, the rate of assault for trans people is interesting.
Of course, the most common type of violent crime is cis male on cis male violence. So, the world is more dangerous for cis men than any other group.
But what has all this got to do with Scotland's gender Bill?
A Bill which would allow people to change gender without a doctor's certificate of gender dysphoria is obviously frought with danger. If you cannot see this then you're a bit of an idiot, frankly.

The SNP and the Greens are in trouble, massive backlash against this with indy votes declining from women...great to see.
Thank goodness the UK government stand for the people of Scotland and look after us more than the shower of shits at Holyrood.

DD...That's called victim blaming. And it also reflects an ignorant stereotype of dark perversions lurking in the shadows. If there is any argument to be made that even yet today trans or gay folks are forced to gather in dangerous places, it the result of social animosity and nonacceptance, not because they like it. It is derogatory stereotyping and hateful disparaging comments that foster this violence. Don't be a party to it.

LoveUnitesHateExamines....That's just wrong. 1 in 71 cis men will be assaulted vs 1 in 2 trans people (M&F). You seem to be confusing the fact that cis men outnumber trans people 90 to one.
Your wildly inaccurate equivocation of gender identity with religious indoctrination again reflects a complete mischaracterization of those who are transgender. Many. if not most, transgender youth have risked the affections and acceptance of their families and friends to be open about the matter. Scotland's bill is applied to adults (yes 16 is adult in Scotland) not children.

I get the feeling that our dimwit politicians are really in fear of this subject, so they don't re-act rationally.
Paedophile protector in chief, Starmer Giles doesn't even know what a woman is. He does, but daren't say in case he gets cancelled by the blue hair brigade.
Jimmy Krankie Sturgeon addresses the subject, then u-turns, then does the Oakey Coaky and puts her foot in her vile cake-hole.
Goodness knows what Wishy Washy Sunak thinks.
With all these frauds, they're 'career politicians'. In it for themselves only.
Don't expect a rational response, they'll go with what they think will give them power and money. They are all filth of the lowest order.

@peacefulpete: I hope your family member gets sufficient mental health support, the rate of suicide, both before and after transition is very high. Only healthy, professional self-integration therapy has shown to be effective.
That being said, the rates of sexual abuse per capita by members of LGBT on children is approximately 4x higher than the per capita rate amongst heterosexuals. That is a fact that has long been established by statistics.
Moreover, people claiming to be trans has increased by 10,000% over the past decade. Unless you know something I don’t, this is an epidemic which is purely caused by media exposure and indoctrination. Much like being gay became a bit of a trend in the 80s with similar characteristics and similar problems (many people, but especially children were encouraged to ‘experiment’ causing the rapid spread of HIV/AIDS).
We are going to see an entire generation of people with mutilated genitalia, permanent dependency on hormonal and anti-rejection medication and the accompanying mental health and physical health issues. Off course those people will also want to ‘get their rocks off’ leading to much higher rates of sexual abuse of all varieties as ‘regular’ people don’t find their sexual presentation attractive, they will be forced to prey especially upon the weakest and least protected (children).
And to that last statement, we already have a lot of evidence, from the infamous serial school rapist case in Loudoun County in the US to jails across the world seeing a massive problem with male rapists entering female prisons using the claim of being female and impregnating other inmates.

Your comment was a mix of misplaced outrage, concern and apocalypticism. I appreciate the concern.
As far as therapy, yes many seek help understanding and accepting the feelings they are experiencing. That is why:
Gender therapists who use a gender-affirming approach recognize that gender diversity is a naturally occurring part of being human and not an indication of mental illness.

Yes, transgender folks are at greater risk for suicide:
Transgender (trans) people face unique stressors, including the stress some trans people experience when their gender identity is not affirmed. Trans people also experience higher rates of discrimination and harassment than their cisgender counterparts and, as a result, experience poorer mental health outcomes. They are also at a greater risk for suicide as they are twice as likely to think about and attempt suicide than LGB people (Haas et al., 2011; McNeill et al., 2017; Irwin et al., 2014).
Yes, there is the reality that some young people are attracted to the idea of transgendering due to other social stressors and the desire to gain acceptance. That is why there is a great effort to train councilors to listen and assist a young person sort through this experience while not adding to the stressors by berating or ostracizing. What we know is that we must act respectfully and compassionately for any one not just the young.
Sadly, in the zeal to "protect" young people many well-meaning people make unhelpful assumptions about this complex matrix of social and biologic factors.

LUHE The following is a summary of a large Swedish Study covering two periods regarding offending rates of post transition biological males. A Texas study found the same results. The following is a quote taken from the study:
"primary purpose of the study was to consider whether medical transition helps patients (leads to better social and health outcomes) and to inform what support they might need post transition. It is methodologically robust, peer reviewed, large scale comparative source on offending rates comparing transwomen and women. It compared the likelihood of a person having one or more criminal convictions, and convictions for violent crime (defined as “homicide and attempted homicide, aggravated assault and assault, robbery, threatening behaviour, harassment, arson, or any sexual offense”).
The study can be divided into two cohorts 1973-1988 and 1989-2003 with the difference being that the latter cohort received adequate mental health provision. The findings show that transsexual individuals were more likely to be criminal than non-transsexuals of the same birth sex in the first cohort (1973-1988), and no different from their birth sex in the second group (1989-2003)
