I.e., "we are fallible, but if anyone points out an actual example, he is an agent of Satan and deserves eternal destruction."

As the I.B.S.A. they predicted that the period of 1914-1918 would see Armageddon and the rapture of the faithful to heaven ,or words to that effect.
They said, 1925 the faithful men of old such as Abraham, Isaac ,and Jacob , would be resurrected and live in Beth Sarim .
They claimed that 1975 was the end of 6000 years of human history and it would be appropriate for Jesus to start his 1000 year reign ,
They had also claimed years before that the late 1800`s was the end of 6000 years of human history. 1975 was a correction.
They also claimed that the year 2000 would likely see when the 1000 year reign of Jesus Christ could begin.
And they are not False Prophets ?
Anybody remember the Books , "Your Will Be Done On Earth "
"Babylon The Great Has Fallen Gods Kingdom Rules "
"The Revelation" books ?
If they weren`t false prophecy`s ,i`d like to know what is .

Oh, yes, they did, if you consider that "say" and "promise" are synonymous -- and any reasonable person would.
AS INDICATED on page 4, “this magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.” Awake!, November 8, 1994

One irony of these two quotes is that they were uttered by The Watchtower Bible and Tract Society -- if you consider that the source of "Awake!" is synonymous with Watchtower -- and any reasonable person would.
The second irony of these quotes is that they were published in their pages within only 597 days of each other.
"Jehovah’s Witnesses, in their eagerness for Jesus’ second coming, have suggested dates that turned out to be incorrect. Because of this, some have called them false prophets. Never in these instances, however, did they presume to originate predictions ‘in the name of Jehovah.’ Never did they say, ‘These are the words of Jehovah."
Actually, they did:
"Jehovah's prophetic word through Christ Jesus is: 'This generation [of 1914] will by no means pass away until all things occur.' (Luke 21:32) And Jehovah, who is the source of inspired and unfailing prophecy, will bring about the fulfillment of his Son's words in a relatively short time." (Watchtower 15. MAY 1984, p. 6 [brackets theirs!])
I came here to quote the very magazine that bennyk did. They made the original OP's article believing they were creating rules that would eliminate the possibility of being false prophets. What they didn't know is they already broke those rules in the May 15, 1984 Watchtower.

An interesting quotation there, "We have not the gift of prophecy." But---you DID HAVE the gift of "erroneous expectations, and erroneous predictions." THOSE gifts you did have. Best Regards, everyone.
