    You are so right Phizzy;

They use family and friends to coerce you by the method known as " Shunning", an Un-Christian and Unscriptural practice.

Whilst they have anyone you care about remaining "in". You have to decide whether you can live estranged from them. They have the power of your own love and loyalty to family and will use it against you. They make the choices inhumanly tough.

According to FAQ yes you can and JW will acknowledge your basic human rights to change or leave your religion without any consequences.

But the elders book says No you can't just leave resign ,your either disfellowshiped or dissociation which basically means the same you will be punished for resigning .

But to the public or a study it's looks like you can leave at any time but as we all know that the org talks out off both sides of its mouth, and has one side for the public and another for cult members.

Couldn’t you just quit as a baptized one prior without any major sanction?

You can likely just "fade" into the sunset and the Elders will leave you alone as long as you ain't "stirring the shit". However if you're determined to be an advocate against them, they will then likely "hunt you down" and DF you to limit the association others will have with you.

Yes is the answer only that you join a selected group of those "LEADING OTHERS TO SIN" aka DESPICABLE APOSTATES and wait for it (RENOUNCE THEIR CHRISTIAN STANDING) this particular aspect make me laugh whenever I see it. Why?

    1. JWs hardly want to be called CHRISTIANS they rather be called Jehovah's witnesses than Christians.

    2. Rutherford in his bit to SEPARATE those under his whims decided to impose JWs on them and RUTHERFORD look in derision the name CHRISTIAN.

    3. Peter said we should suffer as CHRISTIANS not as a JWs but JWs want to eat their cake and still have it. How?

Those who resigned and are no longer JWs are still CHRISTIANS but JWs don't want to have none of that they went ahead to state once you resigned, you have RENOUNCED your Christian standing.

Who rejected the name CHRISTIAN in the first instance? JWs!

How can one renounce what they never had?

Its equally nice to tell them in their face that RESIGNATION is part of their policies, should they feel bitter about you deciding to do so, why was it included in the first place.

The JWS cult is one where leaving the organization/religion can cause an enormous amount of grief and personal trauma, because in doing so you are forever seen as an evil one who has chosen Satan and his worldly system of things instead of showing faithful devoted loyalty to Jehovah and his earthly organization.

Active participating JWS will then disrespect you, even ones own family members who are presently active.

The shunning process varies and will depend on if you've been DFed or if there has been any vocal objection about the JWS religion to active members.

In that case the identity as being a blasphemous apostate (evil) is applied to that person.

Sure you can resign but the consequences for some can be quite psychologically traumatic and bothersome to varying degrees.

10 We can be just as sure that God’s arrangement that Christians refuse to fellowship with someone who has been expelled for unrepentant sin is a wise protection for us. “Clear away the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, according as you are free from ferment.” (1 Corinthians 5:7) By also avoiding persons who have deliberately disassociated themselves, Christians are protected from possible critical, unappreciative, or even apostate views.—Hebrews 12:15, 16.

14 The situation is different if the disfellowshipped or disassociated one is a relative living outside the immediate family circle and home. It might be possible to have almost no contact at all with the relative. Even if there were some family matters requiring contact, this certainly would be kept to a minimum, in line with the divine principle: “Quit mixing in company with anyone called a brother that is a fornicator or a greedy person [or guilty of another gross sin], . . . not even eating with such a man.”—1 Corinthians 5:11.

So you can see one can resign through a documentation process from being an active JWS but the prevailing consequences to occur toward that person are pretty much the same.

You leave and your going to be demeaned and disrespected irregardless, this is set and established as a part of the JWS indoctrination
