Jehovah uses the government to discipline his people

Jehovah uses the governments to discipline his people just like he did with the Jews.

I agree with others about how disgusting this line of argument is. It potentially excuses "His" people of anything in the name of subsequently being disciplined. I would ask the JW who utters this line of ergmuent whether there is a bottom line in his reasoning; i.e., when would he know it went beyond being disciplined by governments and the GB had to face the direct consequences of their failings?

Imagine if members of Christendom used this argument when questioned by JWs about Christendom's "failings"!

If we could break down JW logic it would read like this sentence: "It means what we want it to at the time we need it to mean what we want it to."

he has confidence that Jehovah will give his people the wisdom and discernment necessary to make the changes.

Well the GB just said in a JWorg broadcast they aren't going to change anything under pressure of governments, particularly the two witness rule only doctrine.

The idiocy of holding to this ridiculous outdated law which was established 3000 years ago by the ancient Hebrews is not only a harmful and dangerous law but the damage it costs people sticking to this rule of conduct and Judaical behavior is clearly seen.

The ancient Hebrews has a law that required children whom dishonored their parents to be put to death .

Why dont the JWS stick or adhere to that law as well ?

    Insight, Volume 2, Rebelliousness

Often Jehovah let other nations serve as instruments to inflict punishment upon the Israelites when they yielded to the pressure to be like the surrounding nations and rebelliously abandoned true worship.—Jg 2:3, 11-16; 3:4, 5; Ne 9:26, 27.

Questions From Readers: In the case of where a father or mother or son or daughter is disfellowshiped, how should such person be treated by members of the family in their family relationship?

We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization, as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai and in the land of Palestine. "Thou shalt surely kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him to death with stones, because he hath sought to draw thee away from Jehovah thy God, . . . And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee."—Deut. 13:6-11, AS.

Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we live and also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship. However, God’s law requires us to recognize their being disfellowshiped from his congregation, and this despite the fact that the law of the land in which we live requires us under some natural obligation to live with and have dealings with such apostates under the same roof.

Mildness and Self-Control Yield Peaceable Fruitage

There may be rare instances where a child is so hardened in its stubbornness that even the rod of correction cannot drive it out. In the days of Israel parents were instructed by Jehovah to take such a rebel to the city fathers and they, in turn, took the incorrigible one out and stoned him to death. There were no juvenile delinquents under such a system. (Deut. 21:18-21) So also today, the New World society of Jehovah’s witnesses can not and will not tolerate juvenile delinquency to exist in its midst. So, to avoid a possible death-dealing blow by being disfellowshiped from the congregation, wise theocratic children give heed to and follow what God’s Word says: “Children, be obedient to your parents in union with the Lord, for this is righteous.” “You children, be obedient to your parents in everything [this leaves nothing out], for this is well-pleasing in the Lord.” “Listen to your father who caused your birth,” the Proverb says, “and do not despise your mother just because she has grown old.” — Eph. 6:1; Col. 3:20; Prov. 23:22.

I really believe the GB is sincere, they are convinced that their behavior is what Jehovah has mandated. What others interpret as control they view it as caring for the flock. They are sooooo narcissistic or so focused on some great thing they are doing for Jehovah that they don't notice the damage inflicting on the flock.. I also believe they suffer from the Dunning-Kruger effect (my son told me last night that is what I suffered from as a JW elder..lol). It is a cognitive bias wherein people of low ability suffer from illusory superiority mistakenly assessing their cognitive ability as greater than it is. The cognitive bias illusory superiority derives from the metacognitive inability of low-ability person to recognize their own ineptitude. Yes they believe they are a legend in their own mind.....

Never knew about a break away group. I've heard weird things about ww2 and not that believe any but I've heard some pretty convincing stories. But the one thing that makes the most sense to me is "its the winners that write history"
