Two weeks ago I got an email from a friend saying that according to a recent prophecy, Trump would win the election by a landslide. As I dug into it, I found the following:

Ah, the old "prophecy in hindsight" trick. Remind people when a random guess comes out right, forget about it when it doesn't. People are amazed.
It's used to con people out of money. Here's how it works:
You get a letter or email from someone claiming to have unlocked the secrets of the stock market and it has a stock pick that they claim will go up or down.
You bin it.
Then you get another reminding you they got the last one right and giving you the next one.
You bin it.
Then you get another, reminding you of the last 2 correct predictions and giving another. Hmmn.
And so it goes.
How many does it take before you're a believer? 10 stock picks all correct. They can't fail! Hell yes you will give them your life savings, it's a sure bet!
Right?
The way it works is that they sent the first guess out to thousands, half saying up, half saying down. Each time they send the next to the ones that just happened to be right the last time. And so on, and so on.
Ultimately, it appears they have some foreknowledge but it's completely based on hiding the failures and only pointing to the successes.

It is rather daft. No disrespect to anyone.
You can find relevance for anything by 'going beyond the things written(TM)'.
It's just all fanciful mumbo jumbo.

Simon is absolutely right. This is BS from the get-go. The JW's do much the same thing when they try to explain away yet another prediction that proves false. I've actually heard from the platform, "Sometimes you can't understand a Bible prophecy until it is fulfilled." Well, duh! Anybody can point to some vague statement in the past than can be interpreted to fit the circumstances and say, "See! I told you so!" That approach defeats the whole purpose of "prophecy."
Trump didn't win in any landslide anyway. He did get the required number of electoral votes to win, but not by a huge margin. And it appears that Hillary actually got more popular votes that he did. Either way, it's much more of a razor thin victory than a landslide.
That said, he is in fact the President-elect. So we all have to just deal with it and do the best with whatever comes our way. He may surprise us. Reagan wasn't the greatest genius of all time, but (with Nancy's help) he surrounded himself with competent people and actually listened to them. I think Reagan's greatest strength (other than looking Presidential and being a gifted orator) was that he could give people an assignment and then get out of their way and let them do their jobs. I don't know if Trump can do that. We'll see...
By the way, this is not an endorsement of Trump, Reagan, or anyone else. All Presidents have their pluses and minuses, their devoted supporters and vehement opposers. This is just what I hope is an objective observer's viewpoint. I try to be pragmatic and just deal with the facts as they are. There are times when you can't change your circumstances, so you just adapt the best you can and move on. The main thing is to never give up.

"I am sending out this prophetic message. Trump will win by a landslide. This is not about whether you love him or hate him. It’s irrelevant. It’s just how it’s going to be. Go make nice and hug an American. They can use all the love they can get right now. They have a lot to contend with and they are our neighbours. Can you imagine having to make such a choice? This reminds me of a professor of one of the American Universities, on CNN (many weeks before), predicting that Trump would win. The woman anchor was incredulous, reminding him that this was contrary to what the polls predict. What he did, he looked at all the elections since the 19th century. The pattern he found was the candidate that did well in the primaries, and bad in the actual presidential race, won the election. The anchor reminded him that this was no ordinary presidential race, and there were a lot of factors that made this one unique. The professor was adamant, insisting that Trump would be the victor. He was right all along against popular opinion. That's the scientific method for you.
On the other hand we have TB Joshua, a prominent evangelist preacher from Nigeria that predicted Clinton would win. Well, she lost and he deleted the post quickly after that. That was the unscientific, quasi-religious way of doing things. One up for science.
