    Do you recall any?

I was told that John Denver hated Jw's with a vengeance - any truth in that?

Also, Annie Lennox - I was told before a concert she asked any JW's present to leave?

    Anyone else heard these accounts?

    Any others?

I wouldn't like to question Van Morrison about his JW heritage in case I got a thump!

According to this thread, John Denver is one of those credited with demanding that all JWs leave:

    Here's a Snopes article:

Van Morrison's Kingdom Hall song doesn't sound like any Kingdom Hall that exists in this iteration of reality.

Two rumors about Celebrities and JW's.

    1) {insert name of celebrity} hates JW's at their concerts they start by asking all JW's to leave.

2 {insert name of celebrity} is a JW. They were baptized at the {insert name of convention}, they go out in service with {insert name of congregation}. As soon as they finish contract requirements they will quit {whatever they do} and pioneer full time.

There have been a few that #2 applies to, but not many and certainly not equal to the number of rumors.

Over the years I've been to many concerts (including John Denver) and I've never hears such an announcement. I think most celebreties are smart enough not to piss off their fans.

It is all utter rubbish, otherwise known as the stuff that falls out of a bovine’s rear end !

NB .. the dubs used to love repeating it though. It feeds their persecution complex

I don't know that any celebs would outright hate the JWs, even if they are an ex. They'd probably see the current ones as simply misinformed, as were they, and be reasonably tolerant. It'd be the current JWs who'd be shunning them.

M.J. would have been somewhat justified if he had an axe to grind, but he never seemed to go there. I doubt many JWs went to his concerts anyway*.

    * "Bad association" and all that 🙄

This stuff was rampant in the 80's. It was hard to disprove in the pre-internet days, so it kept persisting as jw urban legend.

As I remember the John Denver story was a horribly misunderstood joke. John was going to play a patriotic song and made a joke that JWs should go to get some food at that time.

The “Johnny Carson” epilogue where Johnny kicks John off the stage for hating JWs was pure JW fantasy.

The idea that there would be that many JWs working in Hollywood is pretty damned far-fetched in its own right. Luckily, they've got their own Hollywood now. Well, they will if they ever get it built.

These urban legends were a way for JW's to think they were way more important in the world's mind than they were.

No one gives them a thought at all. Any more than you or I spend time thinking about the "Children of God" sect or what the Mennonites are up to lately.

Carson did have JWs in his staff. No epilogue.

Jw’s do work in the industry, it’s a big industry. 🙄
