Why do they like the noise? (Yet another fluff question!)

I predict there will be an increasing level of questions in these "last days"!!

    So here's my contribution!

Here in the Great South Land, builders and tradesmen seem unable to do their work without having the radio blaring out from their truck radios.

Is this something that's peculiar to Oz or does it also happen in your neck of the woods?

They do it here in the Northwest. Dave tells me there will be huge boom boxes on top of trucks on construction sites, blaring whatever music the owner prefers. (he has had a few idea about where to put those boom boxes too)

    Hello Ozzie,

Here in the south USA it the poorer trades (concrete and roofers for example) blast their truck radios with the doors propped open. However, some trades have stepped up in society to purchase the DeWalt portable radio, battery charger combination with built in CD player.

The one thing they have in common is VOLUME. OH, and the preference for country music which I cannot stand.

Thunder never does that unless I tell him to crank the radio when I'm gardening He does home repair but when he works outside he uses his MP3 Player and head phones and he NEVER listens to country music.

    Sheila.....

If Thunder uses headphones with his MP3 player, how do you really know he's not listening to country music on the sly

    LMAO off just2laws,

I am in the floor covering trade and that classifies me as one of the "poorer" white trash trades.

You are right in a big way. While I am working in my trade I hear the framers, painters, drywallers, concrete dudes.......all talking or yelling at the top of their lungs with some wild vocabulary. If these ones were in another line of work they would no doubt act different somewhat. I think it's the nature of the beast in the trades.

The radio blasting thing is to keep you sane. If the music is loud and inspiring enough........the hope is that you'll "bear it" through the mundane workday.

Is there real rock and roll in ozland Ozmeister?

BTW.....surveys show that a sure sign of old age setting in is being annoyed at loud music and becoming a cranky old bastard.
