    I remember once asking how the planet could possibly accommodate all the people who have ever lived? After the resurrection I mean. The answer I was told is that the GB had calculated that all the people who have ever lived could all fit on to the isle of Wight?!

    The isle of Wight for non UK members is a small island off the coast of Portsmouth, the south of England.

    At the time it didn't make sense to me but I just put that down to me not being intellectual enough to understand it. But now of course it seems so stupid! This can't be right surely?

    purrpurr - When I was coming along in the mid-eighties It was put to me this way:

    1. World pop in 1987 could fit shoulder to shoulder on the Isle of Wight. It was just over 5 billion at the time.

    2. The amount of people who'd ever lived & died up to 1987 could fit shoulder to shoulder on Madagascar. The

    total - 108 billion ( 2 separate sources).

    I've never given it any thought till your post.

    @purrpurr No it's not true.

    Although the entire current population of the world could theoretically live on the surface area of New Zealand with a density slightly larger than Manhattan.

    Petra your correct about point 2 on my post. I've realised what I've done and can't seem to edit. Can't find a source for born/died up to 1987. The other figures are from the interweb.

    @Je.suis.oisif I was responding to the OP, I've just edited it to make this clear. We posted at almost the same time.

    I was told that everyone could live in Texas with an acre of land each. Texas is big but I don't know if it is that big.

    Texas = 268,581 sq miles = 171,891,840 acres

    World population = 7,373,108,350

    So there would be almost 43 people per acre if everyone lived in Texas.

    I was told everyone could have a house by the beach.

    43 people per acre and we'll all be naked and evidently won't have to poop, or need roads. Where will we plug in our power tools for the construction of housing for all the Pirates who are resurrected? Where will the panda bears live?

    It seems like the vast majority of the current population needs to be removed.... OH! I KNOW!! God can kill off almost everyone!
