"The title of an article from 3/1/88 Watchtower is indelibly etched in my brain, "Responsible Childbearing in This Time of the End".

We had a JW friend who found out that she was pregnant when this article came out. She was devastated. Crying and all. What should have been one of the happiest times in her life, she was feeling like she had done something wrong. Sad!

There is a thread about the pictures in this article, a day ago.

thinking ahead: --- with technology advancing in the overlapping decades ahead, wt will be able to include the smell of diapers to such anti - family anti - life articles.

  • 6. What question should Christian husbands ask themselves?

6 All Christian husbands, whether they have congregational responsibilities or not, should also consider the effect that taking care of young children could have on their wife’s spirituality. If a wife is not spiritually strong, how will a baby, or a number of babies, affect her personal study and opportunities to share in the preaching work?

    7. What has happened to some Christian wives, and what is often the cause of this situation?

7 Do husbands always realize that taking care of a baby or a young child often prevents their wives from getting full benefit from the Congregation Book Study, Kingdom Hall meetings, circuit assemblies, and district conventions? Such a situation can last for months, and even years, when baby follows baby. It is in the nature of things that the load, in this respect, falls mainly on the mother, rather than on the father. It has sometimes been observed that whereas some Christian men progress spiritually, even to the point of being assigned privileges in the congregation, their wives become spiritually weak. Why? Often it is because their young children prevent the wives from concentrating at meetings, doing deep Bible study, or sharing in a large measure in the witnessing work. Can fatherhood be called responsible if it permits such situations to develop?

Here is what the Watchtower Society wants to see at conventions:

Fellow members who have responsibilities to their children are no benefit to the Society.

I do not know if para 5 says something about husbands but para 6 seems sexist ie putting on that wife nees to be spiritually strong or else how is she going to look afer her duties towards her child/children....I see the husband invisible/ silent observer here, dont you?. Does he not have to be spiritually strong as well to inculcate his kids too sirituall or does it all fall on the wifes shoulder's ???

The right thing would be for the husband/ father to give up his so called privileges in the cong and focus on his family's spirituality first.Yeah 1 tim 3:4,5 "He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him, and he must do so in a manner worthy of full[a] respect. (If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?)"

A surprise pregnancy was the way out for missionaries. There are bonus babies too.

It is not in the bible that Noah's sons did not have children because the flood was coming. Maybe poor seed, trying too hard ( decreased sperm), or wufe was betrothed at 3.

Assh s just knocked spock. Way BBC wtter to follow advice from a non parent who never had a job. Spock gave good advice on diseases and offered spanking in proper light--- not knocking into a bloody nose with a bible in back if the hall.
