PeacefulPete: That's about the stupidist thing I heard all week! LOL Your friend sure was stretching any logic he had, sheesh.

Personally, I get a little annoyed when people say things like "there is no such thing as truth" or "truth is relative." We have the postmodernist philosophers to thank for this. Yes, truth certainly exists. 1+1+2, how could you say otherwise? Of course, some things are far more complex than that, but raw nuts and bolts truth does exist in the natural world. Either God exists or he doesn't. Either we have immortality or we don't. Most questions except subjective ones can be answered eventually (theoretically, at least).

    Logan 5:

The issue is not as concrete as 1+1. If you wan't math to be your truth, fine. But in the end you will get to the realization that all things are relative as there simply is no universal constant, only generalizations. Take the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle as an example. The Uncertainty principle is like a postcard from a practical joking god. The truth is that the truth is elusive. Explaining it is like describing "blue" to a man born blind. I guess you could just say somewhere in the ballpark of 600 trillion hertz and let him ponder that. Close enough, right?

Its best said in the Tao Te Ching:

"The Tao that is is not the Tao that can be named."

From what I read independently, and have talked with many spiritual leaders, I am convinced that salvation is through Jesus, and having a personal relationship with him.

Nothing else is needed. No going door to door, no shunning, etc. Just a love of Christ, and treating others around you good.

For me, that is the real truth.

Well, one could argue that the Pharisees taught some truth too, at least until the time of Christ. Then they were exposed for the most part, no doctrinally, but by virtue of their repressive, oppresive, hypocritical actions.

The truth is that things are the way they are, and messages posted are just message people posted, and people's interpretation of those messages are just their interpretations - no more, no less. The only things you can get here are people's ideas of the truth - or more accurately what you think of them through their messages.

huh makes you think doesn't it... reading someone's words doesn't necessarily put you in that person's mind... anyway sorry for the interruption of the thread... I have no REAL truth

So....you have a "personal" relationship with an imaginery friend who never visits you, never talks to never, and never sends you a greeting card? But you KNOW you have a "personal relationship" with him?

Ok, fine. The world can hold plenty of nutballs and still remain fairly sane.

Greetings to you all and may you all have peace!

    Here is the truth:

Jesus said, "I am the way, and the TRUTH, and the life; No one can come to the Father except through me." (John 14:6)

"If you remain in my word, you are really my disciples; and you will know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free." (John 8:31, 32)

"If therefore the Son sets you free, you will actually be free." (John 8:36)

Jesus is the truth. If we remain in his word, we will know him (the truth) and he (the truth) will set us free.

Now that we know not what, but rather "who" the truth is, what is the good news of the kingdom?

Jesus said, "If you had known about the free gift of God and who it was that asked you, 'Give me a drink' you would have asked him and he would have given you living water." (John 4:10)

What is the significance of this 'living water?'

"Whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty at all, but the water that I will give him will become within him a fountain of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life." (John 4:14)

What is this 'water' that gives everlasting life?

"If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me; and anyone who puts faith in me, let him drink, just as the scripture says, 'Out from within him streams of living water will flow.' This he said concerning the SPIRIT that those who put faith in him were about to receive; for as yet there was no spirit because Jesus had not yet been glorified." (John 7:37-39)

If anyone is thirsty, he may come to Jesus and anyone that puts faith in him may drink holy spirit directly from Jesus. Drinking such spirit gives everlasting life instantly to the one drinking it. You do not have to wait until after "Armageddon" to receive everlasting life. You can have it now, today. If you receive it now, then if you were to die in the flesh... "you" will continue to live forever in spirit and not have to sleep like the rest of the dead.

Drinking holy spirit gives you not only everlasting life, but also teaches you about all things, even the 'deep things' of God. It will speak to you directly from the heavens and through you bear fruit of love, joy, peace, etc. It will "wash your robes and make them white in the blood of the Lamb" that "the authority to the tree of life may be yours and that you may gain entrance into the city (which is heaven) by its gates." (Revelation 7:14; 22:14)

Thus, through holy spirit, you have approached a "Mount Zion, and a city of the living God, heavenly Jerusalem, and tens of thousands of angels to-all assembly, and the congregation of the firstborn who have been written of in the heavens, and to God, the Judge of all, and the spirits od righteous ones who have been made perfect, and to Jesus, the mediator of a NEW covenant, and the blood of sprinkling that speaks in a better way than Abel's." (Hebrews 12:22-24)

Then it will be true when he says, "Look, the tent of God is with man, and God himself will tabernacle with them and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will their be mourning, nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." (Revelation 21:3, 4)

And our Father will say, "To ANYONE thirsting I will give from the fountain of the water of life (holy spirit) free. Anyone conquering will inherit these things, and I shall be his God and he will be my son." (Revelation 21:6, 7)

Anyone who wishes to remain with the Son, he says, "I am the living bread that came down from heaven; if ANYONE eats of this bread he will LIVE FOREVER and the bread that I will give is my flesh in behalf of life of the world...

"Amen, amen I say to you, Unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood you have no life in you. He that feeds on my flesh (the unleavened bread) and drinks my blood (the red wine) has everlasting life, and I will resurrect him on the last day. For my flesh is true food and my blood is true drink, he that feeds on my flesh and drinks my blood remains in union with me and I in union with him." (John 6:48-58)

Hence, anyone may also partake of the bread and wine (at the Memorial) and have everlasting life. This is the 'good news of the kingdom.' This good news is to "anyone asking, anyone seeking, anyone knocking" to come drink life's water free. (Revelation 22:17)

Not ONE answer to my question so far! Any takers? You have the Truth! Please enlighten me (us) !

Spanner: You are deliberately trying to lure posters into answering your questions....all the while you only want to argue with Christians..Case in point...the "born again thread". You are not worth engaging because you don't even read the responses anyway...or if you do read them.....you could have fooled us. signed *bud*
