I don't know many "former members" who would attend a Kingdom Hall on Christmas day.
I wouldn't rely on this "former members" thing. I can just imagine the elders being told to tell that to the press if one was DF and the other hadn't been for a few months, even.

I know. If anything I would want to say as far away from possible from there.

I haven't seen any updated reports yet today, but CBS is reporting there were 'three incendiary devices found' at the scene. At least one window was obviously broken out in one of the photos. Early news reports often have the details mixed up. One news video showed a street interview of a neighbor who said he heard gunshots at 7:30 am, which doesn't seem likely at a KH; maybe he was mistaken about the time.
I am upset by this story and will be very interested in knowing the backstory.

The elders are no doubt forming a committee as we speak to deal with the serious sin of bringing reproach upon the organization.
"A few years ago an elder committed adultery with a spiritual sister who had an unbelieving husband. On the evening that the disfellowshipping of the former elder was announced, the infuriated husband strode into the Kingdom Hall with a shotgun and fired shots at the two guilty individuals. Neither of them was killed, but the next day this was front-page news in the largest newspaper in the United States! Truly, wrongdoing brings reproach.—Proverbs 6:32."

Why were they at the kh on Christmas morning? Going out in service! If they were former members, maybe the wife wanted to go back and was going out in service and he lost it. Pure speculation on my part

Wait a minute. Christmas was Sunday morning! That means there was the Sunday meeting public talk and watchtower

The account I read mentioned 9 AM and the meeting starting at 9:30... It's all very odd. Maybe both parties were in on the incendiaries that were thrown...the article also said FORMER members...There is a real story here and I hope we come to learn of it.

'Witnesses told FOX31 Denver that a person had fired a gun in the parking lot at a member of the Jehovah’s Witness congregation and tried to throw an item “similar in appearance to a pipe bomb” into the building on Christmas morning.'

'Pipe bombs' tend to be preplanned. Likely a suicide note was made, telling all, which police don't tend to release.

Check out this quote from CPR. I will post the link at bottom so you can see the quote in article. The damage control is in full swing for the local hall and the Org. When I read this it made me sick to my stomach how they worded it when they don't give a rat's A$$ about families that have been traumatized by their disfellowshipping policy.
In a statement, the Sherrelwood Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses said it was "shocked and deeply saddened by the unprovoked attack and loss of life" at their hall, adding they are cooperating with authorities investigating the shooting. "Our hearts go out to the family and friends of those who have been traumatized by the heinous actions that took the life of an innocent victim and threatened the lives of many others."
Here is the link to article that above quote is taken from.
