I consider myself an independant and will vote for whatever candidate supports my views at the time.

I have come to realize that all my life I have been a Humanist and a (true) Socialist in my attitudes.

As a resident of the U.K, the Party which aligns with most of my views, and is also most likely to form a Government at some point, is the Labour Party. I am a paid up Member and Activist. It is the only way I can see that we can bring an end of Rule by a wealthy Elite who are in the Maw of Big Business and the Right Wing Press.

Our present Government has frittered away £ Billions, and yet the condition of the low waged and under privileged has got worse and worse. This Conservative Government are responsible for thousands of deaths, and for continuing unnecessary suffering and hardship. I could go on. But "enough already" !

Interesting is it not that countries which are highly sociologist in governance have an over all better standard of living over the greater population - ?! Er, what countries were you thinking of?

(Hint: Sweden, Norway and Denmark are not socialist countries. They are all capitalist countries with monarchies.)

There might be something about sharing the wealth - yeah, but you need to create wealth first. Capitalist countries are the best for creating wealth. Socialism cannot create wealth.

I joined the Labour Party when I left the cult. I've recently left them as I dont agree with Corbyn nor a lot of their policies now.

I've since joined The Green Party. I agree with all of their policies, plus they want to introduce a 3 day weekend and work towards legalizing cannabis.

"Socialism cannot create wealth" neither can Capitalism, both are systems by which wealth is distributed.

Wealth is created by labour, by work. A fair system of distributing wealth is needed.

Capitalism creates profit. Socialist systems don't create profit.

Labour is certainly part of the profit-creating system. But labour alone isn't enough to generate profit. People laboured intensely in Soviet work camps, worked themselves to death, and yet the Soviet system didn't work. They didn't make profit on the free market.

On the other hand, hard workers thrive and help the economies of capitalist countries such as Japan and South Korea thrive.

And, in many ways, what's so unfair about the way wealth is distributed now?

What would happen if people at the top of the pile were paid as low as manual labourers? The Talent would sod off to another country that paid them higher.

I'm poor. I'm poor because I've got a lazy streak and I haven't got myself a decent job so far. It sounds harsh but it actually seems fair to me, if I'm being honest.

However, if I apply myself, I could get a decent job and career. Because I live in a capitalist country.

Just want to add a note that your political affiliation really means different things in different countries.

Being a conservative in Europe probably does not have the same connotations that it has in the US, where conservatives have to share their end of the spectrum, with all sorts of idiots such as racists, climate change deniers, abortion deniers, bible-thumping morons and other nudniks.

Now of course most conservatives or republicans are not any of these, but they are forced to tow the line of a party who -- realizing that the droves of misfits are willing to vote for them -- are all too happy to keep them entertained with rhetoric that suits their views.
