  a) If you look at it scripturally, you would find that Jesus was cautioning the world against JWs (who keep on changing the time-table of Jesus’ coming/end of the world) when he said:

  “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. For as lightning that comes from the east is visible even in the west, so will be the coming of the Son of Man.” (Mathew 24:26, 27)

  These verses and his previous caution (in Mathew 7:21-23) clearly prove that no organization is appointed to announce to the world the presence/coming of Jesus.

  b) If you look at them from the level of common sense, you would agree that we are all human beings first (from humus, Latin, soil/physical elements + being or conscious/immaterial entity) which means we are all children of God--an ultimate truth, glory of which cannot be shaken by too weak reasoning such as 'if one does not share our belief system, we should not greet him.' Yet JWs practice shunning as a weapon which makes them inhuman.

  Hello Venus. I thought you'd gone on holiday or something. Not seen your comments for a while.

  There are at least 3 ways of looking at it.

  1. what the Bible says.

  2. what the watchtower says.

  3. What rationality dictates.

  Ahava: I will try to make it very simple for you: According to JWs, the core of faith is believing in one God, named Jehovah, that gave the life of his only son so that those who worship him will gain eternal life on a paradise earth. Then, a whole lot of smaller teachings are subject to changes through regular "new lights".

  Yet, Jesus once said that the most important teaching was the love of God and your neighbor.

  Now consider this: If you publicly disagree with a minor teaching that could be changed through new light, you will be labeled an apostate and consequently be shunned by family and friends. Such action forces people to forsake love in exchange of absolute loyalty to their group.

  Thus, in action, their priority is not love, it is unquestionable authority over their members. This type of authority is similar to the Scribes and the Pharisees and was openly denounced by Jesus.

  Getting baptized, especially when you know you do not believe everything they teach, is giving them authority to make your life miserable if they ever did find out about your disagreements. Quite frankly, it is senseless.
