for the lucid lurkers: # 37. The article's examples really show, that among the 'name people' only 50 % of rank and file, and none of the leaders can be trusted all the time. but, shut up and put up.

Eli and Hannah, Eli's sons committed gross sins, raping/ seducing woman visitors to the temple, for years, yet naive worshippers are to trust their brothers, even with their children ? inaction by wt approved? wait on the deity instead of cleaning the stable themselves?

Ahithophel joined Absolom in rebellion against his father David, but Hushai remained loyal. 50% trustworthy, but what a nice ruling family, An adulterer murder as a leader, -- your wife daughter might be next. or The next census might kill you, or as a priest in charge of pole-carrying the ark, David usurps your duty, and puts it on a carriage and you die trying to keep it from falling.

If you are out on wt assignment, do not trust your wife, daughter with the likes of David. bathing beauties beware ( Bath-sheba story). and witnessed in person.

The Nabal, Abigail, David triangle . Nabal trusted his beautiful wife that she could dissuade David to kill them all. ha ha. but David , a nice protector to have. ready to kill you over protection payments. 100% failure of leaders.

Jesus tolerating infighting , lobbying in his "organisation" ("it is not given to me--) If they could do it then, we can do it now.

#16, example of occasional food poisoning. so, How about wt's spiritual food, toxic again and again. we need beaf eaters. sacrifices have to be made.

wt readers beware: examples show, leader examples 100% failures. members 50%, spiritual food might be poisonous again.

to summarize: In the wt examples: you could trust half of the lowly ones, but not the leaders. i.e.

    Eli and his sons, David.

you can not trust the spiritual food, it could have, as admitted, given you food poisoning before, ( think back to 1975).

Analyze the gist of this article to the full. wt writing is not always dull; full of hidden truth and meaning.

The reason they have to touch on this topic, in my opinion, is because the demographics and things inside the congregations have changed. You have to wonder just what kind of victimization some people have experienced!

Back in the day when I was ‘in’, I NEVER had any business dealings with JWs and never wanted to. And THIS was back when people were more ‘responsible’ types. But, there was always a con artist here and there. Unfortunately, they were always there like threads in the fabric. I knew enough to avoid them and I had heightened senses because I wasn’t raised a JW and worked full-time. I was well aware of jealous idiots and deadbeats looking for handouts.

But, NOW…you can totally forget about it !! I’m Out many years and am well aware of all the changes in the religion as well as the changed demographic and things in the world being a bit worse.. Most of the elderly responsible types (hit up for money the most) are passing away. What is left in congregations are less affluent and more ‘needy’ types.. A lot are needy because they followed the religion’s advice not to get careers or plan for their retirement. Anybody else left in the congregations who looks even halfway decent or has a job - would be targeted left and right!

I am Glad I am long gone from this religion.

Most of the Elders I have run ins with are Dishonest and Con-Man. Not all of them, but the ones I have done business with. And I have alot to say for the arrogant elder who works for me. He is not very honest and not a stand up guy.

    FOOLEDNOMORE:

Back when I was in decades ago I have to say that the elders in the congregations were basically decent men - even if you didn’t like their personalities!

I’ve been out for about twenty-two years. Sorry that everything seems to have gone further downhill in the JW religion.. No way I could be around any of this now.. Any diehards still wanting to stick around with this..good luck.

comments you did not hear at the meeting: -- but should have.

hannah wanted to get pregnant, so she went to the temple where Eli and his sons were at service. Not surprisingly, her wish was granted.

begs the question why did the Almighty tolerate that debauchery, rapes or seductions for years?

These were capital punishment crimes. so,

why would you want to trust that same continued organisation any more now?

At least in Hanna's day they had true miracles to back their claim of divine approval.

Longhairgal- I have been out for 20 years as well. It is not what it use to be. And the Jdubs I do talk to are worn out and dumb down. Very sad shape.

"And I have alot to say for the arrogant elder who works for me. He is not very honest and not a stand up guy."

Foolednomore ,My question for you would be ,why do you still employ him ?

"strain the gnat and swallow the camel."

the wt article makes you worry about two friends of David but hides the fact that as a major player in the "brothers" lives, he ruined the lives of every married man's family hopes , that he could his hands on.

David, a great warning example for Jws future, and a lived experience. Think of the missing piles of files in the congregations.

The article states the headline “ You CAN Trust the Brothers “ but then gives a whole lot of examples where brothers could not be trusted.

If someone has been hurt by a fellow believer, the article acknowledges that this happens and just says that it happened in Bible times too….. Not very encouraging.
