Why are the GB and JWs scared of "apostates" and "research"? Romans 8: 35-39

I was just pondering this passage of scripture:

    Romans 8:35-39 (new world translation)

35 Who will separate us from the love of the Christ?+ Will tribulation or distress or persecution or hunger or nakedness or danger or sword?+ 36 Just as it is written: “For your sake we are being put to death all day long; we have been accounted as sheep for slaughtering.”+ 37 On the contrary, in all these things we are coming off completely victorious+ through the one who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life nor angels nor governments nor things now here nor things to come nor powers+ 39 nor height nor depth nor any other creation will be able to separate us from God’s love that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

So, with that thought in mind, WHY is the GB and Jw's in general scared of anything that challenges their faith? Why are they scared of , and repeatedly told to avoid talking to those who have left the organization? Apostates if you like.

Why are they discouraged from researching OUTSIDE of the Society's material?

After all, if they have faith in this passage of scripture, NOTHING should be able to separate them from "God's love". NOTHING should be able to shake their faith.

This seems to be a scripture that may make some JWs think. If they are convinced that they have the TRUTH, then NO amount of research or information should be able to shake that conviction.

    Any thoughts on this?

The gig is up....Tony has more than tight pants to worry about now....he and the rest of the buffoons know they are standing naked and it's being pointed out more and more each day.

The bullshit times have ended......their "kings" have had their day.

Simply stated because Apostates - Research -An Honest Heart ,not lying to oneself -speaks the Truth .

In contrast to the WTB&TS /GB members who do no such thing who go to no ends trying to prop up a religion that was started by C.T.Russell and then taken over by J.F.Rutherford promoting a religious publishing house for years to come.

With guaranteed sales from their members.

I wish I'd done my research all these years but they make you scared to in a way. My ex was shocked in November when I said I'd done research on 607bce on the internet coz apparently historians all lie and the wts doesn't so should stick to what they say about it coz it's "The truth".... what a load of ****.

Witnesses of bygone years loved to cite that passage in Thessalonians about ‘making sure of all things...hold fast to what is fine.’

Today JWs are ill-equipped to defend their faith. Their leaders absolve them of needing to mount a defence. At least in the past, JWs could mount a reasonable defence of their organization’s teachings.

    Thanks for your comments.

Yes, I find it amazing that these ones who are so convinced that the ALMIGHTY CREATOR of the universe - someone with unlimited power, and who guarantees an unbreakable relationship with his individual worshippers - can so easily be threatened by the act of researching facts outside of the approved Society material!

Answer = Apostates expose the lies, ignorance, false doctrines and corruption established within the Watchtower Corporation.

    That makes them potentially dangerous.

All of the leaders of the WTS. strayed from the instructions handed down into preaching the Gospel.

Today's GB leaders know that now, which makes for more of a intensified agenda to keep a watchful eye onto their devoted followers.

That's also the reason why the GB heads recently have been propagating the Stay Loyal to us and Don't Give Up proclamations.

I read this and came to a conclusion that troubles me deeply.

The JWs are the persecutors. The ones that judge. The ones that follow men ( putting trust in nobles instead of God ). Forgive? no, punishment.

When people at the door would tell us the most unbelievable thing we'd ever heard:
"Jehovah's Witnesses are not Christian". We'd scoff with full arrogance on display.

    *Spoiler Alert*

    They were right...

    ---

Also Romans chapter 8 contains many warnings about 'fleshly desires', etc.
Which JWs have a big problem with organizationally for over a hundred years.

    Cuts to the heart

One could say the JWS faith was built upon pretentiousness as they alone were god's chosen ones, the most righteous, the ones who had the most accurate interpretation of the bible.

From all that high level of assuming identity its vitally important from the perspective of holding people to adherence to curb independent thought and self expression, you do that by controlling the flow of information and what information you offer is presented with life saving appeal.

You can arrange answers to your own posed questions of understanding, some would call this brainwashing, if that indoctrination is all encompassing to hold people in emotional and intellectual submission, than you can see why the WTS instills such strong aggression to opposers of their own doctrines.

There were always two important agendas of the WTS., one is to keep people reading their literature and secondly to distribute that literature.

There is nothing new. It is ever the same with every autocratic body. Set up a fence (“Trinity”, “Blood”, “Jehovah”, etc.), threatening death if you stray outside. The monotheists of the 6th century BCE were no different:

“By introducing a series of statues, the founding fathers of Judaism try to safeguard the new community’s loyalty. They leave no doubt about their intolerance. Prophecy calling for following other gods is punishable by death (Deut 13.2-6). If such an invitation is pronounced by one’s brother, son, daughter, wife or friend, then “you shall have no pity on him, you shall not spare him nor shield him” (Deut 13.9).

“In this way, a system of control is established which even interferes with, and works within, the family. The religious community is considered to be more important than kinship solidarity - a revolution in a kinship-based society, but characteristic of new religious movements such as early Christianity, Islam and some well-known contemporary cults. (Monotheism and the prophetic minority, pages 43-44, Bernhard Lang)
