I was thinking after hearing about the AGM cutbacks to the mags and other website content surely they will end up dismissing more Bethelites? I would have thought in the old days, before the web, an artist or writer at Bethel would have been a full time job making content for four 32 page mags a month. Now what are these guys going to do?
If WT are cutting back on mags will they also cut back on Bethelites?

I believe bethels around the globe are the next big cutback. With all these cutbacks to publications there won't be a need for so many bethelites distributed in many departments that were tied to the publishing work. I can imagine many long time bethelites are having sleepless nights not knowing what there future holds in bethel.

I have been asking the same question. The multi-million £ new HQ in the UK is coming on apace. What is it for? What is going to be done in all those buildings? Printing of literature? Well no. Printing of magazines? No, not that, not anymore. Distribution of literature? Sure a lorry every couple of months or maybe use Amazon Fulfillment.
Maybe it's for the legal department fighting the Charity Commision and all the child abuse claims. Perhaps there will be plenty of work after all.
You know, when you have cut and cut, more and more streamlining, you can stand back, look proudly at your work and find there is nothing left.

There have been tremendous cutbacks to Bethelites already. For well over a year now, many Bethelites, including married couples who were thinking they were going to be spending the rest of their lives at Bethel, have received their pink slips.
Also, they have not been accepting anywhere as many persons into Bethel, as they have only just a few years ago. Bethelites about a year ago, were told they would NOT be having their medical benefits any longer. Some only had about 2 to 3 months notice before their benefits ended, if I recall correctly.
This has been going on already way before these new publication cutbacks were announced. In fact these latest mag, and literature cutbacks, are the next phase of cutting down.
The first phase was letting go of literally THOUSANDS of Bethelites worldwide.

I should've clarified that there will be way more cutbacks at bethel than the ones that have taken place already.

The plan revealed by arrogant Anthony is a reduction in WT frequency, and if I understand his eminence correctly, an end to the duality of standard and simplified study WTs. Additionally, I understood his holiness to say that subject matters may not be added to and that a significant amount of digital media will be frozen. So repetition / reprints may be the future pattern. The present paucity of creativity will be the new reality / standard.
Thus, I'm expecting more haemorraging of bethalites too. They might only be safe if they're working in a video production department. His Royal Highness didn't say video production will be reduced.
There may be other consequences though. In that the annual report via the yearbook is no more, it remains to be seen if the level of detail in the digital version of the annual report is maintained. If not, or if the report is released in segments, then the importance of submitting reports may be lost on JWs. Irregularity in reporting may increase. Secretaries may have to get assertive to maintain the flow of reports from JWs. This in itself could be quite problematic locally.

Yeah, hurry up and build the new UK HQ on the Sheeple's dime and time, and then put it right up on the auction block. Rake in that $$$$$$$.
I'm honestly not surprised by all these closing and layoffs. To me, since the new Warwick Cult Compound was completed, and it is so huge, there really is no use for ANY of the branches, anywhere. Every single piece of literature, video, etc can be produced at Warwick and distributed worldwide. Heck, with today's global printing industry, it's probably just cheaper to write the literature, send it to the proper printing facility in that country, and have it printed off for the Congregations and delivered. WT Org is totally streamlined. I foresee a future where the Warwick HQ is THE ONLY facility on the globe. Totally centralized.
