A crate would be worse off than a boat. There’s a reason a boat is shaped like a boat and not a shoebox. Even barges have one or more shaped hulls. I think everyone since antiquity knew this fact, hence the tradition of a boat-shaped object.

As pointed out before, a wooden boat that size cannot be physically supported, however even a box the size of a small boat cannot support itself in water, it would simply crack as soon as it got lifted.

well, may be the corners were dovetailed. perhaps all the dung and urine added to tensile strength the tar. in the bilge of the barge. . but think of the stress form the torrents of a constant a 10 meter an hour rain, hitting the upper slopes first.

wt outlines go from water over Everest to everlasting life. impossible, the fairytale can be laid to rest. the endorsement by J.C.and St. Pete notwithstanding. And the deity himself being the doorman.

" It just amazes me how JWs are almost offended at the sight of a boat shaped arc because that's not the way its been drawn by Watchtower artists."

Well they won't be too shocked at the old WT pictures of the snake in the garden of Eden .........it had legs according to WT artists

Noah`s Ark never existed , the question is mute.

Perhaps the Bible's description of the vessel being called an 'ark' (meaning chest or coffer) instead of a 'boat,' offers a clue as to its functional shape

The last poster is absolutely correct, the point is mute. However since this was the argument the WT used to say it was a box shape, it is worth analyzing. The word 'tevah' (an Egyptian loan word, ark) is only used two times in the Tanakh (OT). The second time it refers to a pitch coated floating (basket?) Moses was placed in when put in the Nile. Clearly the author was linking the two stories, stories of divine passage through water. (another time). I never saw the WT depict Moses in a box. That's all I'm saying.

I still find it funny that Ken Hamm’s ark needed modern, state-of-the-art construction technology to build.

In today's modern times, without heavy equipment this ark could never be built. How did Noah bend beams, carry heavy loads, saw wood?

    From: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_Encounter

While the builders originally planned to hold the ark together with wooden pegs, modern building codes required the builders to use steel fasteners, thus 95 tons of metal plates and bolts were used to connect the wood together.

That is actually scary. An attempt to make the experience seem authentic is one thing, but creating actual safety risks is reckless. Good thing God sent those city inspectors to make sure they followed modern, man-made building codes.

There is 95 tons of those throughout. How much weight from the reinforced concrete? If only Noah had known!
