I've heard of some congregations holding meetings for field service via Zoom on Saturday & Sunday.
Yep, every morning except Tuesday; that's when they have to have all day to "prepare" for their meeting. I had to set it up for another family member, and on the connect to a meeting screen there is a field for ones name. I just put a period. Now they are trying to figure out who has the black screen (no camera) with only a white dot in the middle.

I struggle to imagine what the org is going to mutate into over the next 2-3 years.
I'm trying to get the camera upside down one thing, we find who chews gum, picks their nose, falls asleep. I do worry that everyone will see the look we give when sister know-it-all comments. Actually the camera burns bandwidth
giving a hint for those who still need to attend those boring as hell zoom-meetings:
even you don't have guts to turn the video off and go do your own stuff during the meeting - just place a mobile/laptop in front of TV, and turn on your favorite movie/show.
Can't you just record a loop of your self mind do a couple people will notice if you're wearing the same clothes,😀
It's not about spiritually; it's about control and keeping JWs on the never ending wheel of mindless busy work so they won't have time to question or think for themselves.
I realize now that I would I have been far more spiritual if I had not been a JW. I spent 35 years toiling as a JW with no time for real spirituality.
Is there any way to do a green screen kind of thing? You know, put a fake background behind you, like maybe a running clip of a strip club or even a sports bar.
Even funnier if you could put a more interesting background behind other people’s video feed. Just for fun, of course. Just long enough to get a laugh or two and then back to normal.
My friend invited me to join in the vroom meeting of course to see what really went on. We made sure we had a background (via a projector and showed a library shelf full of jdumb books), and set the laptop in front of it.We logged in n we were just messing about during the meeting on our tablets, nodding our heads infrequently, had a good laugh!
So you can still be pimo just like you did at the halls!
We did not have to sit through the whole meeting either, my friend pretended to have accidently nudged the laptop which then blitzed us out .Did not bother to log in again.Was a good laugh though!

The fear is people realizing they dont need this. The same for sports trying to keep the fans interest in watching some overpaid bozo do what you should be engaging in yourself. Same for the new car you dont really need. The list is endless
Fyi you can be part of the zoom meeting without the camera on yourself which is what I do
