What was WT view on anti venom in old days, considering it was made from blood.

Way back I think the WTS guideline was ... Keep away from snakes,

It was a wake up call for me 18 months ago. Bitten by brown snake in oz. I needed anti venom and of course took it. But then light came on in my head that I think it was same stance a blood factions ,which meant in old days I would have died due to a man made rule.

banned it up until 1952, although in more recent years they have stated it is up to the individual Jehovah’s Witness to decide: "As vaccination is a direct injection of animal matter in the blood stream, vaccination is a direct violation of the law of Jehovah God." (The Golden Age publication, 1935 April 2 p. 465).

"Oh, yes, serums vaccines, toxins, inoculations, are all -harmless', because the man who is selling them says so. You, my friends, believe this LIE, and continue to submit your body to these violations; then all I can say is, 'God have mercy on your soul'. All vaccination is unphysiological, a crime against nature." (Consolation 1939 May 31 p. 8).
‘Would it be proper to accept a vaccination or some other medical injection containing albumin derived from human blood? Witnesses have long realized that this is a matter for private decision in accord with each one’s Bible-trained conscience. Some Christians who feel that they can in good conscience accept such injections have noted that antibodies from the blood of a pregnant woman cross into the blood of the baby in her womb.” (The Watchtower, October 1, 1994).
The reason for this about turn? In 1952, when Jehovah’s Witnesses lifted the ban on vaccination, they wrote: "The matter of vaccination is one for the individual that has to face it to decide for himself. . . . And our Society cannot afford to be drawn into the affair legally or take the responsibility for the way the case turns out." (my emphasis – The Watchtower, 15 December 1952).

--I do believe that antivenom and treatment for tetanus are made out of what the WTS has called a blood fraction--immune globulin which has been a conscience matter since 1990.

Heh...the real reason they lifted the vaccination ban was because unvaccinated JW missionaries weren't being allowed into other countries

It would have been hard in my family since my jw mother was married to a military man who took his family with him to his assignments out of the country. Required, no religious exemptions then. There are some jws from older jw parents (prior to 1952) who still live by the rule, no vaccinations for jws and confuses the crap out of some worldly people who know jws that do get vaccinations.

It's that time again now, school starts and the back and forth on vaccinations among non-jw families is out of the gate.

Blondie, I am of the non-vaccinated generation of JW kids. The ideas about vaccinations containing blood and a big no-no were still around when I arrived on the scene.

I am still not vaccinated. I have had the odd tetanus shot and recently, my first whooping couch vaccine. I don't respond well to vaccines and have had horrible reactions when I have tried in the past. Nasty.

I am not happy that I did not receive the vaccinations that were available for me when I was a kid...and that I still don't have most of them. All because of some stupid superstitious belief about blood

I have an immune condition so I get the ones I can. When I was growing up there were no vaccinations for chicken pox, measles or mumps. Don't need them know that I am old. But I get my flu vaccination but cannot get the one for shingles because of my immune condition.

I did have smallpox vaccinations although only the first one took when I was a baby. One scientist/immunologist said I was immune to smallpox now....maybe

I get the DPT shot.

The best thing to do is check with your doctor, what can for you. BTW I did not develop autism nor anyone I know.
