Blind obedience is what Witnesses are known for. Is there anything that even THEY wouldn't do, if so instructed???

How about if there would be a 6th meeting in the week? Ohhhh, that would hurt many people, but I guess they would go anyways if they were told to.

I guess they would do anything asked of them, but their smile wouldn't be too perceptible.

Minimus if a Witness was ordered to change their opinion of faith and refused they would be disfellowshipped and therefore not be a Witness. If they were told to do something or to abstain from something and did not then they would be disfellowshipped and no longer be a Witness. If they are not propagating the faith anymore and just hide out to avoid the consequences of not following orders then they are just AWOL.

If they do not do as they are told then they are removed to keep the organization sanatized aren't they? So why the question? Everyone has a point where their conscience will not let them do what is wrong. It is their humanity. But when a person gets to that point then and listens to their conscience instead of men then they are no longer one of Jehovah's Witnesses. They are free.

I asked my mother that question once, and her answer was "no". So I asked her if they told her to kill me, would she do it. She was shocked and said "of course not but they would never ask that of me". It made her think though. (what if they did?)

Throughout time there have been fanatics that would do the most repugnant of acts in support of their religious and political beliefs. I feel it would be naive to think that there is not a radical core of Witnesses that would be happy to cut off the heads of their neighbors if they felt their god of war demanded it of them. They would be honored to be a sword of Jehovah....literally. JamesT

In an actual conversation with an active, in good standing, member of the JW cult, I asked, "What if you opened up the latest copy of the Watchtower and in the main article there were instructions for every JW in the world to pick out a Catholic Church, a different one for each JW; to purchase an assault rifle with extra ammo clips, and on a specified date of course on a Sunday Mass to show up at the Catholic Church of their choosing and to stand in the back and open fire, first at the priests conducting the mass, then at the congregation? Would you do it?"

The guy didn't even hesitate to think about it. Immediately he said, "Absolutely I would do it. But I don't think that the Governing Body would ever direct us to do that. But if they did, well..."

    Doesn't that jar your preserves?

The only way I could see a JW killing people would be if they were told by the "faithful and discreet slave class" that the time is now! The Great Tribulation is on us and the direction of the "slave" is to execute those dishonoring God's name and then using scriptures to back them up.

I don't think the WTS could convince a witness to committ a crime such as killing church leaders etc, unless that was in their personality to begin with.

If it goes against their inner morals, I don't think they would. Do they go door to door, and meeting and such because they are told to? Yes, but that is basic and fairly easy to do. They will go along with that.

While at first i thought if a jw reads in next months mag to Kill folks i think the vast majority would reject it, but some die hard would.

the reason being is that the wt has for year branded it into thier heads thru talks , article etc that all they will have to do is STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF JAH - i used to give that and one of the points was that unlike other groups, who take arms in the name of god, we will not have to do that-

but of course if they started slowly to reverse that by planting ideas of this could be a possibltiy, and over the years just getting stronger on the issue then i could see that happening

but I don't see that happening, the reason is simple with the shift of leadership from DieHard, WE DO WHAT THE HELL WE WANT TO, to more of a " WE do what the hell we want to, BUT WE DO IT POLITICALLY CORRECTLY"

THE wt is doing more things to make themselves appear NORMAL, LIKE REGULAR RELIGIOUS FOLKS the days of putting ones foot in the door are over

WE NO LONGER CALL FOLKS WORLDLY we call them non-jw and other softball terms- we don't tell the gov like we use to that they are run and controled by satan

awhile back i had mentioned what a lawyer for the society told me and a group of former bethelites- this was 6yrs ago, we had him come down for a speical sat night program, afterwards we all headed over to my house

the women were down stairs we were upstairs telling bethel war stories

he told us that Legal now will not allow the Writing Dept to say anything they want to due to the difficult times it creates for the legal desk-

he related an exp he personlally had with a judge-

he was asked do jw beleive that satan runs the gov- he told us he tried to play it off by saying a they service in their relative place by god, etc, but the judge kept pressing it an finally he conceded that such comments have been made in the past-

not to be satisfied the judge proceeded to ask, do we teach that satan is behind all religions, once again he said he tried to play it off by saying each person heart will be judged by god, etc, and the judge continued to press the issue

    once again he finally conceded-

then the judge asked him, "let me make sure i got this right, according to your teachings, since i work for the gov i in effect work for the deveil and since i'm a catholic the devil controls my faith--

and then he proceeded on with legal case- in a month or so his ruling came down against the wt-

he told us it is due to so many statements made in the articles, so some of the article have to clear legal before going to print

the kicker is of course some of the oldtimers are pissed ONCE AGAIN TEH COLLLEGE BOYS are maklng the call, while many of the writers cut their teeth in the pioneer work out in Kentucky--

but when you stop and think about it the avg jw will let a loved one die over blood so in some sense they do follow the wt intructions even if it results in someones husband wife, childs death

    just my 2

I can't think of anything that many JWs would refuse to do if instructed in the right way by "the faithful and discreet slave". After all, you don't refuse to do what God tells you, and the Fundamental Doctrine of Jehovah's Witnesses is to view everything coming from "that servant" as coming directly from God himself. You don't view "spiritual food in due season" from "the slave" as anything other than God's Word. I know a number of JWs who have said outright that they don't care what the Watchtower Society does or teaches -- they'll stick with it because "it's God's organization". You can't argue with such illogic. Would JWs kill? Certainly, if instructed properly. The only reason they don't do it now is that they have a doctrine that teaches against it. Would JWs quit praying to Jehovah and start praying to Christ? Certainly, if the Society presented arguments from Revelation about "new scrolls" being opened. Give me a reasonable scenario in which blind obedience is required, and I can probably figure out how the Society could argue so as to justify it. AlanF
