The article gives me the impression that they're not even thinking of using these to "grow" a human. They're stem cells that apparently are treated/modified so that they can be used for research and testing. At present, laws forbid them from 'growing' the cells beyond a 14-day limit.
It sounds more like people are wandering into sci-fi territory. Now that AI has become such a concern, I think we will see more and more articles and reports about scientific fields where it seems science has crossed some boundary that might threaten human survival, etc.
