Police aren't there for you there there for the state. I seen first hand them lie to get what they want . I have also experienced them sticking up and supporting bad laws a evil corrupt government. But if your dealing with child molestation I would still call them.
This is why the Elders should always call the WT society or personal attorney before ever talking to the Police.

you should never talk to the police and always let an investigation be made through counsel.
This is the case with any legal contact with police. There are a few very important things [at least in the United States] that one should be ready to say in any legal interaction with police. These were courtesy of a woman defense attorney whom I dated for some time.
1. I have nothing to say without legal counsel present. Then SHUT UP! They cannot hold un-spoken words against you.
2. If they persist in questioning you then ask, "Am I under arrest?" If the answer is "No" then leave.
3. If they say you are under arrest then refer back to number 1
I have successfully employed these statements more than once.

do not call someone elses lawyer to keep them out of trouble. if needed, call your own.
I remember drifting around a corner at around 80 in a 40 zone, met a cop going the other way first question was how fast were you going, I didn't get the radar on. I replied I didn't know, just drove the road a lot and may have been over the limit. Had a visit and that was all. You don't have to answer questions in the US

There is a huge difference between an alleged sexual offender talking to the police without legal counsel (which this video is talking about) and an organization that is required by law to report to appropriate authorities, including police, disclosures of alleged sexual offending.
The OP conflates the two scenarios and speaks in support of JW elders phoning legal counsel first.

I find the OP misleading.
JW's have been conditioned to contact the elders in the event of a sex-crime, even if it involved non-Witnesses.
This is a horrible concept.
Why are victims, or their parents, being conditioned to do this?
As the ARC clearly demonstrated, this often harms the victims more, and usually muddies the water of investigators and prosecutors.

“Chook”: “Stupid Australian women in US rang police and got shot by cops.”
That was a very mean and unfair thing to say. This poor woman was just trying to do the right thing, and no one deserves to be murdered in cold blood like that.
An unarmed woman in her pyjamas is obviously not a threat to anyone. That cop who did the murder was clearly malicious and evil by his actions, and both those cops have a lot to answer for in keeping all their cameras turned off.
That news item is so disturbing that it makes me want to cry and vomit.

I carry a personal liability insurance policy because of my interactions with the WTBS. I have one million dollars for attorney's fees if they come after me.
Every church elder should have such a policy to protect him being held accountable for WTBS policy.
