Looks like we can expect a kinder, gentler Jehovah and Jesus during the great tribulation. The door will not be closed to all non jws at the start of the tribulation. But will have time to repent after false religion is destroyed. Jesus will not judge the sheep and the goats until the end of the tribulation. It finally dawned on them the r&f are burned out and are wising up and not buying the end is always so close anymore . Thus the no more requiring of recording hours.
This answers the question if the organization was going to go more Hardline or mainstream.

To go authentically mainstream would be to give up the claim that they have God’s exclusive favor.
But without that, there’s virtually no incentive to even be a Jehovah’s Witness.

I'm with nowwhat? on this one.
Not because it really make much sense for the GB themselves and their power, or for those who have done the 110% in the Organization ... but only because going mainstream is the only chance the GB has in stopping the rot.
Of course this 'new light' trend needs to be continued; to elevate the power of an individual's conscience, to come clean and admit it had/has a child abuse problem, and modify the disfellowshiping rules into some kind of kinder arrangement.
While having a truly social religion would help in stemming the tide of young ones leaving, you have to ask if it is all a bit to late?
Only time will tell.

I found this in the WT October 2019, page 9:
“Besides staying awake ourselves, we also want to help others wake up to what the Bible foretold would happen in the world. Let us remember that once the great tribulation begins, it will be too late for people to turn to Jehovah. That is why our preaching work is so urgent!”
Which is obviously exactly opposite of what they just said on Saturday.
So at the meeting 10/7, they contradicted both points in this paragraph:
— people can “turn to Jehovah” after the GT starts
— that being the case, and not bothering to count hours anymore, in what sense is the preaching work “urgent”?
That WT is only 4 years old. It undoubtedly takes them a long time to formulate and articulate changes in doctrine, so likely not long after this article was released, they were working on the change.

Looking back at the last few months' GB change (exit of Morris and entry of two new ones), and knowing that their decisions are voted on within the GB and must pass by a certain percentage (thanks Ray Franz), it seems likely that there are a number of changes coming down the pike. The time reporting change is really a major change in the religion's mindset. I would expect more changes to come.
