Care Leavers Australasia Network CEO Leonie Sheedy, a longtime advocate for survivors, told Pro Bono News that organisations failing to join the scheme should be penalised.
“Organisations should have their tax [benefits] and charity status removed if they don’t sign up,” Sheedy said.

Praise the Lord...may the Jehovah's Witnesses/WTBTS be named and shamed for all the harm and pain they've caused...penalize them to the high heavens...Yah!

And so they should, we do not want this Australian Royal Commission into Institutionalised Child Sexual Abuse to be a paper tiger .

If I remember correctly, the Australian Royal Commission's findings only provided recommendations for the Australian government to consider.

It looks like Australian MP's are now going to have to be encouraged to make the scheme compulsory.

    One step at a time.

This article is quite good. Given the upcoming Federal election here in Australia (mid May) this is something very much worth lobbying your federal and state MPs about.

It should also be noted that there is a Joint Select Committee on oversight of the implementation of the redress recommendations currently still accepting submissions.

With the up coming election in mid may ? is there something we can do to influence in some way politicians to make sure the recomendation`s of the ARC into institutionalised child sexual abuse are part and parcel of their policies ?

And not a watered down version ?

Can we influence politicians to put their money where there mouth is and make this a game changer for those that have been subjected to sexual abuse as minors and get some real justice done by the ARC Recomendation`s ?

As Australians facing an up coming election shortly can we do something to make this change ?

i`m open to all suggestions . As a group ? individually ? anything else ?

smiddy3, are there any existing organizations in Australia that are organized to take the message to the political side and voters?
