Curious what area of Nor Cal?

    Fremont, Fairfield or other?

Ten bucks says that more and more professional venues are perceiving JWs as toxic clients, and acting accordingly.

With all the hoops the org. Makes these venue operators jump through, some are probably saying it's not worth it.

Why rent a stadium that holds 50 or 100,000 people, when only 10,000 will show up? Could be embarrassing for the borg. Just have concurrent ones at the circuit assemblies.

That's interesting because the kids are back in school now, so will the District Assembly now be only on the weekend? Or will all the blind followers allow their children to miss school to learn about Jehovah?

Wonder if they have really changed their business model and arrange more international conventions? We already know that they have lucrative hotel deals.

I mean International conventions even have their own homepage.

    https://www.jwevent.org/

Marekting for Finland Convention for example is as follows:

"Imagine yourself in Kauppatori, the market on the harbor, enjoying coffee and the traditional Finnish cinnamon rolls. Stroll along the seaside park of Kaivopuisto, or visit Suomenlinna, one of the largest sea fortresses in the world. Or roam the cobblestone streets and get a sense what Helsinki was like during the days of the Russian Empire when the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society was registered under the Russian czar."

So money from int conventions and savings by using own small halls.

    Just thinking.

Suomenlinna btw is a Military Fortess.

    Not in my youth...

Well since persecution is "just around the corner", smaller gatherings will attract less attention. What's next? Wearing casual clothing and learning to talk softly? No more a time for boldness for jw's. Now it's time to start ducking the lime-lite!

    just saying!

Save money , probably make more in the future because they will probably start telling everyone there’s a deficit like they do at the circuit assemblies and like what was mentioned above more and more venues will not allow the jws to just show up and get it all for free or next to nothing like they have in the past.

They've been doing that around Montreal and Quebec. With most of the program being videos you can do a repeat several weekends in a row. Maybe it's got more difficult to book large venues or maybe the WT not getting any deals or kickbacks from city authorities for holding large events.

This is an informative thread—thanks. And thanks for the various thoughts by posters.

It sounds like this is another money move. 1. They don't have to shell out the money and resources to set up the DC in the traditional, bigger venues. 2. They can make more money by keeping it small and can continue to lie about expenses at the Ass. Hall, just like have done for years at circuit assemblies, making the faithful feel guilty and cough up more money that isn't really needed to run the assembly/convention.

They will likely keep the Intl. Convs. going for the high profile PR as the only big meetings. The DC/RC small turnouts the past two decades must look embarrassing to all. It may be easier to hide the small numbers of newly baptized in smaller venues too.
