Honestly, I think most of these rules are alright, except for

    1) Maximum of 4 players per team in half court games. I assume they want to reduce the risk of injury with too many players in a game, but, these aren't kids, they're adults! Let them decide for themselves.

    and most shocking:

    2) Give a donation! Out of what? Their next to nothing allowance?? Seriously! Why wouldn't they be able to provide them this small benefit that millions of Americans has access to? For all I care, they could get an indoor pool and it would still be fine considering the amount of time they spent in there with next to no compensation at all.

I'm sure there will be no shortage of asshat monitors more than willing to insure rules are enforced!

Thanks Atlantis for the fascinating post! Another look into the inner world the R&F know little about.

    TBK,

    It also sounds rather organized

Of course it's highly organized. Can you picture them doing anything at HQ that is not? After all, it's "God's organization, brother!"

Yeah, the request for contributions from ordinary Bethelites just shows how asking for money at every turn has become normal.

"Give a donation! Out of what? Their next to nothing allowance??"

I had 2 cousins who went to bethel and my parent's would send them the odd $50 or $100 so they could have some spending money. I'm sure their parents and my other JW relatives did the same. I guess the leadership assumes that's the case with all bethelites and expect donations from that.....

Obviously, nobody on the GB is playing basketball.

I think the most telling thing about on that sheet is the following:

"No guests or tours are permitted in these areas."

This is because for DECADES they've denied any sort of fun or recreation for rank-n-file JW's, and yet here they are at WT HQ, doing these very things! They KNOW that this would raise eyebrows, raise questions, and STUMBLE members who have long since wanted to play sports, but were consistently DENIED the opportunity and then as an added insult, told that their time is better spent in "Theocratic Pursuits."

That's how I felt when I first saw the plans for WT HQ years ago. I saw the areas for basketball, soccer, gym, pools, etc, etc. I was like, "WTF?"

    In JW-Land, it's:

"Rules for thee, but not for me!"

What do you expect though from the most hypocritical, two-faced, dipshit religion on the planet?

Right! Uber elder used to be CO -

stopped all recreational activities involved in competition... but hey! Hockey and being hit into the boards was ok after a few years... now this... my kids suffered because of the lack of activities but instead were dragged on a stage to "compete" with other kids - used as pawns for their ""spiritual"" upbringing vs those who were not elders kids.... (but some were still having after school activities anyway)- lucky them... I should have had half a brain then
