In the latest JW Broadcast, Anthony Morris the Turd gives a talk about donations. To camouflage this, he starts and ends the talk by saying that isn't actually what he's doing. First he starts with the usual disclaimer, 'WT has never begged for money like Christendom and we never will', you know the drill. Then comes the guilting:

Whatever our circumstances are, Jehovah doesn't approve coming empty handed.

Money . . . we need to take that into account even if we're in the poor range.

If we say we love Jesus . . . If we really love him . . . that means money. We are willing to donate money to support the worldwide work.

Then to close it out he says with no sense of irony:

We don't want to shame anybody, that's a personal matter.

He also stated that Jehovah and Jesus expects them to donate money, even if they are poor.

It's a shocking talk, guilting the poor into donating and it is centred around donating to the organization, not specifically to their local congregation.

It's not the fault of JWs that the Watchtower decided to discontinue their main source of funds of selling publications to JWs resulting in them having to find other ways to guilt JWs into giving them money.

It's one thing for Christians being asked to donate to their local Church or Congregation but being required to fork out funds for all different sorts of activities is going beyond any biblical backing to do so. The JWs are required to donate towards disaster relief, even if the affected JW has insurance. There's also the financial support of special pioneers, even if they volunteer in their own local area. There's the future building of several media centres which include support of bethelites by covering their accommodation and board expenses. There's also the many out of court settlements which they know nothing about and the list goes on.

There's no transparency from the Watchtower HQ as to how much money goes where and virtually no option for the JWs to donate to specific causes. I don't see how God would expect worshipers to donate to a third party, the Watchtower who have distanced themselves from individual JWs.

That was such a bizarre presentation.

He seemed to be stepping on eggshells, tip-toeing about so as to not give the whiff of a hint of a trace of possibly maybe making some wealthy JW feel bad for not donating - "it's all a personal decision".

In the next breath, he says that the poorest of the poor JWs should be contributing to the WTS. He didn't much care about them feeling guilty for not donating their last 12 cents to the WTS.

It was a muddled message, to say the least. "We need money. If you're wealthy, it's a personal decision, maybe think about donating, if it's not too inconvenient. If you're poor, give give give give give."

I get the impression that someone gives him a topic to develop and present but his addled brain can't form complete or coherent thoughts to communicate. Surely other people notice it as well, but who's going to give counsel to any GB member, let alone the surliest one?

Whatever happened to "they will never beg for money" ?

And if they ever did it would mean Jehovah has given up on them ?

At least Christendom is up front about it , and l say that as a member of that awful group of degenerates .

Our contributions are to our local church , but SOME of it does go to the CofE where it is used to pay for vicars in poorer parishes . However any church is only asked to give what it can afford when it's own needs are met .

Unlike the WT our finances are completely transparent with the PCC , of which l am a member getting regular financial reports and each year at the AGM a yearly report is published for any of congregation to see .

Also my church , and l would think others make donations to charities at home and abroad.

No the WT isn't comparable with Christendom, at least he got that bit right .

Poor people can go to other churches for aid to pay an electric bill, gas bill, or rent. The watchtower gives NOTHING to the poor. They ask the poor to give to THEM. This organization needs to go down.

Wasn’t there also a letter a while back saying that JWs shouldn’t help other JWs out financially because if they really need help then the congregation will help them. Which in practice never happens.

There is a scheme. Once the money is donated, it becomes property of the WT (or it becomes holy) and nobody is allowed to use for anything. BoEs have no authority on that money. Since some time now, they request and push all congregations to transfer whatever they have in their hand to Bethel.

From my personal experience, there was a brother, had to be operated, but had not enough money and family coverage to get the operation. BoE decided to use the congregation's money for that urgent need, help the brother, but some of the elders' conscience "pricked them" and the next morning they called Bethel whether this decision was theocratically correct or not. Bethel replied, no you can't use the congregation's money and if you want to help the brother, 1. find his relatives 2. ask for private donations. Once the money is contributed, it is no longer touchable.

Congregations, innocently thinking all their donations are going to Bethel and used efficiently to help brothers/sisters in need worldwide.... I'm certain that when they say, they are helping and have helped XX thousand brothers/sisters financially, these must be the Bethel workers and special pioneers' monthly salaries.... Deception at work.

It was a mid-week meeting part. It basically said give to the WW Work, we know how best to use it. There is no need to give to a Go-Fund-Me or similar. You can't be sure that's real. The usual rhetoric.
