The only way to salvage the silly 144,000 doctrine is to get new light regarding the symbolic nature of this group.

This is probably the so called big change that is hanging in the wings. New light on the 144,000 would not only explain all the recent additions to the anointed but also the overwhelming number of men and women who were martyred prior to 1914 for their Christian faith.

Why is it that Jehovah provides new light only when current doctrine becomes untenable?

If there really was a talking snake, an original "sin", that led to humans dying*, the tragedy, or travesty in the wt religion is not the smaller and now increasing number of partakers, but the mistaken belief that this simple act of metabolism would carry more weight than truly heroic acts of martyrdom, of depriving yourself of the procreation fulfillment (remaining a male virgin). or, that you can ignore Jesus' direct command to his followers, then with an entrenched earthly hope, like the apostles in his presence, -- to "eat, all of you!".

After all, partaking merely indicates your candidacy to a higher calling, not that you are elected, or selected.

Jws are arrogant, they think they can tell God what to do in dates, selection of their little egos.

Actually, perhaps a billion Christians partook of some of the meal, at least the bread.

Emblems for all, would be like the "Superior Authority" wt fiasco, rating humble pie, ( no pun intended) coming in line with mainstream belief.

*death, a clever evolutionary strategy to regulate advancement. .

Waton WT says Jws are "true Christians" that means translated tue anointed ones.so: all should be in communion by partaking with Christ the anointed. In John 6 "Jesus " said to get everlasting life you have to partake,
How do jws expect to get everlasting life if they do not partake?

Regardless of Watchtower doctrine (and I believe they have stated the 35 cut off was incorrect - otherwise none of the currant GB could be anointed). Also, unless there is sinning in heaven, how can there be any replacements for those who fall away since most (If not all) are dead?

Yes I think there are more anointed as JWs are becoming anxious about their religion and Jesus saying unless you "drink and eat" you have no life in you. I think they feel wrong rejecting the bread and wine on Memorial day.

The number of anointed oscilated almost 20 years between 8900 and 8600, to hit the lowest number in 2005 - 8524. Since then it's going up every year, probably hitting 20 000+ this year (19 521 in 2018). If you count just JW + IBSA anointed in last 140 years, we talking probably about 100 000+ partakers (1935 was 50 000+ partakers). Add 1st century christians, some during next 18 centuries, and we really need some "new light" about 144 000 doctrine.

I think there's a new WAVE/movement re/annointed epiphanies going on - I heard the same thing from an X-JW about her looney father a few months ago and they like the idea of up yonder (heaven). She was rolling her eyes and relating the story to me in a disgusted tone. I wondered if it was a new cult strategy to lock more in and get their families to regroup with JWs.

It’s simple. According to the Bible, if you are a follower of Christ then you should be partaking with a view to a heavenly hope. Period. More and more JWs are starting to wake up to this realization and defying Watchtower’s twisted teaching of only 144,000. That’s the reason the numbers have increased drastically.

John 6: 53 Truly, truly, I tell you, unless you eat the flesh and drink theblood of the Son of Man, you have no life in you.54Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

As per Jesus command, every believer in Christ need to partake to get eternal life. The JW version of 144K is sheer blasphemy

EA: right! and everlasting life is only the first step to immortality. so: partake, even in private, and let wt worry about their ever-changing doctrines.

Yes, everyone whom believes in Jesus should partake. Partaking is not about claiming/believing you are anointed/chosen and will rule with Jesus, it is about showing your faith in his ransom sacrifice of his flesh and blood. 1 Corinthians 11:26

The GB and all whom partake in the kingdom halls that do so thinking that they are chosen/anointed and will rule as kings with Jesus for the thousand years, are foolish and have no clue.

Paul was chosen by Jesus personally, but even at that Paul did not consider himself to get the reward of ruling with Jesus as king, or to put another way, what Paul referred to as the upward call or earlier resurrection. He knew he was chosen to be an believer and follower of Christ (a Christian), but in order to get the upward call (rule with Jesus) you will have to die a martyr and/or refuse the mark of beast, etc., which we are not even at the point in time that the mark has been given out yet.

    Philippians 3:10-14

    Revelation 20:4

Thanks for the response, people. The word/concept of "anointed" isn't part of my everyday language. It's not even part of my every-decade language!
