You’re not kidding about them going off script and spouting their own opinions. These stupid opinions end up becoming ‘law’ in the religion.

Unfortunately, this is what makes up a lot of the so-called JW religion:..somebody’s opinions. They have gone waay beyond ‘what is written’.. I, for one, was not interested in anybody’s personal interpretation about anything.

As for the thread topic about ‘princes’ in the religion: it disturbed me to see how they were trying to ‘elevate’ the elders over time.. But, that didn’t work on me as I couldn’t help but see them as they really were.

The book Man’s Salvation Out of World Distress at Hand! alluded to elders being appointed as princes. Page 362

27 As the “new earth,” human society organized under the “new heavens” kingdom, gets under way, there will be need for overseers, superintendents, supervisors of communities and operations. Elders who survive the “great tribulation” and form part of the “new earth” will have gained much experience by their services rendered now in the congregations of Jehovah’s Christian witnesses. The “great tribulation” will not have discharged or dismissed them from the theocratic position of elders and overseers among the members of the congregations that survive with them into God’s righteous New Order. They can carry right on in this capacity, if the will of the heavenly King Jesus Christ is in favor of that.
28 At any rate, the experienced elders and overseers will be available for the Messianic King to appoint as “princes in all the earth,” from the very start of his thousand-year reign onward. What a privilege that will be for them to be the visible princely representatives on earth of the millennial Kingdom!

The statement in the 2014 WT says "Doubtless, Christ will appoint others from among faithful elders of today to take the lead in the new world" In WTS jargon, "doubtless" means we are just "suggesting it" but even if you don't understand it you must believe it and wait until the WTS adjust this "fact." Many other words like this, I call them weasel words where the WTS goes on to tell how prayers should be said. "How long should our prayers be? The Bible doesn’t say. Our prayers can be short or long, depending on the situation. For example, we might say a short prayer before we eat but a longer prayer when we are giving Jehovah thanks or telling him about our concerns. (1 Samuel 1:12, 15) We don’t want to say long prayers just to impress others, as some people did in Jesus’ day. (Luke 20:46, 47) Jehovah is not impressed by prayers like those. What’s important to Jehovah is that we pray from our heart.

Oh you must be talking about the Dutch brother who was wealthy in my area ,he bought some land for a kingdom hall but sub divided some of it for private homes and made out to the authorities it was like a village for parishoners but nearly all were sold to worldly people.

But the hall was built next door, this generous brother was made an elder. Oh did I forget to tell you he molested his daughter for years. Ah the WTS making the most of "unrighteous riches".

The story has a good end though the WTS has ownership of the hall and he died not many years later of Asbestos he breathed in .

I'm almost going into deep depression imagining that at a ~~bore fest~~ meeting.

w64 12/1 p. 723 par. 28 - Psalm 45 talks prophetically about the Messianic King, Jesus Christ, and about his marriage to the bride class, the 144,000 joint heirs of him in the heavenly kingdom. Then, in addressing the King Jesus Christ, Psalm 45:16 prophetically says: “In place of your forefathers there will come to be your sons, whom you will appoint as princes in all the earth.”

That same Hebrew word for “prince” is found in Isa 43:28 and is used for the priests in the sanctuary, being “disgraced”. It also is the exact same word in Isa 9:6 when referring to Jesus as the “Prince of Peace”. Of course, he is the “high priest” of God’s spiritual Temple. (Heb 4:14; 9:11)

By all rights, this word refers to the anointed priesthood, not to the elder body. But in the wt. where the anointed sit in silence, the elder body is said to “represent the royal priesthood”, a position that cannot be “challenged” (w 02/8/1) , which truly has brought disgrace to the spiritual temple built on the body of Christ. (Isa 43:10;1 Pet 2:5,9; 1 Cor 3:16,17; 2 Thess 2:3,4; Rev 11:1,2; 2 Chron 23:6; Ezek 44:6-9)

All anointed inside the organization are in subjection to the GB, AND the elder body. (Matt 24:48-51; Rev 13:5-7)

So, by Wt. relating “princes” to the elders, it shows they are both a counterfeit priesthood, as well as counterfeit “princes” wearing “something like crowns of gold”. (Eccl 10:5-7; 2 Chron 13:9; Dan 8:23-25; Rev 9:1-4,7)

I've come to realize that NO teaching by the organization can be trusted. Including where the faithful sealed anointed, symbolic "144,000"/Bride of Christ, will be serving as "princes"/"priests in the Kingdom. Jesus showed us by appearing to the disciples after he was resurrected, that he can and will, be ruling from both heaven and on the earth, with his messengers/angels/priests/princes/Bride of "New Jerusalem", who will be serving the Father, the Son and the people of the Kingdom. (Gen 28:10-16; John 1:50,51; Heb 1:6; Rev 21:1-3; 22:17; Mal 2:7; Psalm 37:29-31)

Rev 5:10 - "You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth".

So bugger Moses, Abraham, Samuel, Elijah, Elisha, Jeremiah etc etc and the many faithful ones of old, then!

No some random elder from Chipping Sodbury will become a Prince - get to order Moses etc around and hob-nob it with Jesus and the Holy Host of Kenny Rogers....
